The enchanting island of Malta, situated in the heart of the Mediterranean, has an enviable sub-tropical climate which makes this an ideal destination to celebrate the Christmas festivities. This compact and colourful island has an absorbing history and fascinating culture. The beautiful capital of Valletta, built on a finger of land between two vast natural harbours, has some of the island’s best preserved architecture. The distinctive landscape provides a wealth of contrasts from the rugged coastline of the north shores to the scenic bays and sandy beaches in the south. We have selected the modern Radisson Blu Resort & Spa, St Julian’s, ideally situated for easy exploration of the island.

At the Blue Grotto viewpoint we see the collection of sea caverns which, at certain times of the day, mirror the phosphorescent colours of the underwater flora or show a deep dark shade of blue.
Day 3 Christmas Eve - Valletta
We embark on a morning tour through the bustling streets of Valletta, Malta’s attractive 16th century capital. We start with a visit to the gardens known as Upper Barracca, which offers a stunning panorama of the Grand Harbour, then on to St John’s Cathedral, adorned in riches that date back to the time of the Knights of Malta. At the Malta Experience, see an audio visual show telling the dramatic story of the island’s 7,000 year history. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure before dinner this evening.
Day 4 Christmas Day - St Julian’s
The whole day is free to enjoy the festive spirit at your hotel. After a leisurely morning a seasonal Christmas Day lunch can be enjoyed, after which why not stroll along the waterfront of St Julian’s Bay, where you will be able to see an attractive array of fishing boats.
Day 5 Boxing Day - St Julian’s
Another day at leisure; or join an optional guided full-day tour to the Island of Gozo - the legendary island of the Goddess Calypso and Malta’s sister island. Only a short ferry crossing away, Gozo has a character entirely of its own - it is rich in varied landscapes, natural sights and historical features, with the citadel in the chief town of Victoria dating back to Carthaginian and Roman times. This full-day excursion, including lunch, will visit the citadel in Victoria and the Bay of Xlendi. We have dinner at the hotel this evening.
Day 6 Mosta - Rabat - Mdina
Enjoy an included guided half-day sightseeing tour of Mosta, Rabat and Mdina, the former capital of Malta, this morning. The walled city of Mdina has a unique atmosphere and, passing through the narrow streets, we admire the magnificent cathedral and the imposing bastions that command a magnificent view over the island. We return to the hotel before lunch, with the afternoon at leisure, or you may wish to join an optional cruise to appreciate the beauty of the Grand Harbour.
