Day 2 Modena
Uncover the fascinating history of Modena - enjoy a delightful guided walk through the town to admire UNESCO-listed monuments, including the Piazza Grande and the Ghirlandina Tower - the Cathedral of Modena’s stunning belltower standing at a breathtaking 86.12 metres in height, recognised as ‘the symbol of the city of Modena’. On our way we also stop at a balsamic vinegar producer to get an insight into its production and enjoy a delicious brunch including wine. You are free to make your own dinner choice this evening.
Day 3 Christmas Eve - Bologna
Spend Christmas Eve morning on a guided city tour of Bologna, a lively historic city with a grid of medieval streets, embellished by festive decorations and a merry atmosphere. We visit the city’s highlights including the stunning central square, Piazza Maggiore, which boasts an array of lavish historic buildings; San Petronio - the city’s imposing Basilica with a unique and fascinating history having been built in 1470 by Lorenzo da Prato; and the beautiful D’Accursio Palace. While wandering this glorious city you will also come across the iconic Neptune Fountain, a controversial monument built over a period of three years (in 1563-1566) in the Piazza del Nettuno. This afternoon you are free to leisurely roam the charming alleys, and you may want to visit the traditional Christmas market of Santa Lucia, easing you into the Christmas spirit with brightly-decorated stalls selling handmade gifts and local delicacies such as the delicious sweet treat Torrone. Later in the day we walk (approximately a mile) to a local restaurant for dinner.
Day 4 Christmas Day - Bologna
Merry Christmas! Today we celebrate in style, beginning with a delicious breakfast and a morning at leisure. For lunch we take a walk into town (approximately a mile), to dine at a local restaurant. After lunch you might want to take a walk around the historic surroundings or simply reside in the hotel.
Day 5 Boxing Day - Ravenna
We embark on a full-day guided excursion to Ravenna, a spectacular city enriched by colourful mosaic artwork. We visit to the most fascinating UNESCO-listed early Christian monuments that can be found here, including the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo, Ravenna Baptistery of Neon, the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia and the Basilica of San Vitale. Now mesmerised by the architectural beauty, we journey back to Bologna, stopping on the way to see unforgettable nativity scenes either in the Rimini area or on the charming sailing boats in Cesenatico.
Day 6 Bologna - London
We transfer to Bologna Airport for your direct, scheduled British Airways flight to London Heathrow Airport. On arrival you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
