Castles along the Rhine
Day 1 UK - Basel
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your flight to Basel. Meet your Uniworld representative on arrival and transfer to the port to embark S.S. Antoinette (5-star), River Empress (5-star) or River Queen (5-star).
Day 2 Breisach (Kaysersberg and Riquewihr or Colmar)
Breisach is your gateway to the Alsatian wine road, your launching point for one of two excursions. You can visit Kaysersberg and Riquewihr, two of the most picturesque villages in the region, sampling local delicacies and getting a feel for daily life, or take a tour of the larger town, Colmar, considered one of the most beautiful destinations along the wine road. Enjoy the Captain’s welcome reception and dinner.
Day 3 Kehl (Strasbourg)
Explore the Alsatian capital, known as the ‘Crossroads of Europe’ for its strategic location halfway between Paris and Prague. You may choose to see Strasbourg on a panoramic tour or as the locals do, on a walking tour.
Day 4 Mannheim (Speyer)
Stroll through Speyer’s charming Old Town to the city’s grand cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Alternatively, for a different spin on the Palatinate wine region, visit the Doktorenhof vinegar estate to sample unique aperitifs made from wine vinegars.
Day 5 Rüdesheim - Boppard
Arrive in Rüdesheim, one of the most charming ports of call in the Rhine Valley. This city is famous for the Drosselgasse, a narrow, bustling lane of shops and wine bars. Experience Germany’s fabled Rhine River in one of two ways - a tasting of estate-grown Rieslings at Castle Vollrads or an invigorating vineyard hike.
Day 6 Cruising the Romantic Rhine - Koblenz
Watch the waters of the Moselle meld with the Rhine’s as you stand at the German Corner during your discovery tour, sharing views with a symbol of German unity, an equestrian statue of Kaiser Wilhelm I, who united the nation in the 19th century. Or cycle from Boppard to Koblenz, with views of ancient and colourfully painted half-timbered houses and the magnificent Marksburg Castle. A third option will take you to Marksburg Castle.
Day 7 Cologne
You simply cannot visit Cologne without paying homage to the Gothic masterpiece that serves as the city’s cathedral. A local expert will show you favourite haunts around the Old Town and share some of the cathedral’s most intriguing secrets. Cologne is the largest and oldest city of the Rhineland, with more than 30 museums and hundreds of art galleries. Cap the day off at the Captain’s farewell reception and dinner. Please note: On Sundays and Catholic holidays, tours inside the cathedral are not allowed, but individual visits are still welcomed.
Day 8 Amsterdam - UK
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK. Upon arrival your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
