French Cities with Spain and the Seine
Day 1 Liverpool
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your journey to Liverpool. Embark our ship in preparation for a late evening sailing.
Day 2 At sea
As we sail towards France, you’re free to do as much (or as little) as you wish. Maybe start your day off with a brisk walk around the deck. Or opt for a yoga class. Spend the afternoon learning a craft, or perfecting your golf swing. After your choice of dinner, you can catch a show or dance into the night.
Day 3 Lorient, France
The Brittany town of Lorient is a fusion of heritage and landscapes. Its houses, beaches and quays point to the conquest of India and the East Indies, deep-sea fishing, World War II and the restored pride of the Celtic nations. A former German U-Boat base, Lorient was a primary target for Allied bombing raids. Today’s rebuilt city is awash with post-1950s architecture and a number of museums and galleries to explore.
Days 4-5 Bordeaux (overnight)
Widely regarded as the world’s wine capital, the graceful French city of Bordeaux offers far more than just vineyards and claret. Having shaken off its rather sleepy image over the last few years, Bordeaux is now amongst France's most exciting and dynamic cities. While a sizeable number of the city's visitors are still enticed by the chance to taste what makes this wine-rich region so special, Bordeaux has many other surprising secrets.
Day 6 Getxo (Bilbao), Spain
The underrated Getxo in Northern Spain is an attractive seaside location, and the access port for Bilbao. Getxo’s wonderful beaches, beautiful architecture and truly impressive monuments include the UNESCO-listed Vizcaya Bridge - the world’s oldest transport bridge. Or venture further to Bilbao, the largest city in the Basque country, and home to the world-famous Guggenheim Museum, Museum of Fine Art and its stunning 14th-century Gothic-style cathedral.
Day 7 Avilés
The Spanish city of Avilés in the north-western province of Asturias, is steeped in history and architectural gems just waiting to be discovered. The city centre is stylish and easy to navigate, with plenty of high street stores, pretty cafés and a number of museums and galleries to visit, while the Old Town quarter is Avilés’ finest feature.
Day 8 At sea
Today is free as we continue our cruise. Enjoy a hearty breakfast then take your pick from the variety of activities on board. Show off your general knowledge in an afternoon or evening quiz. Try your hand at bridge, bingo or deck quoits. Or indulge in a traditional afternoon tea to while away your time. Top off the day with a sumptuous dinner or a simple tasty buffet.
Day 9 Cruising River Seine - Rouen, France (overnight)
Slicing through the gorgeous lush-green countryside of Normandy's regional natural park Boucles de la Seine Normande, the route of smaller ships like Black Watch along the River Seine presents unforgettable views to enjoy in comfort on board. We’ll arrive in Rouen in the late evening.
Day 10 Rouen
The ‘City of a Hundred Bells’, Rouen, is capital of the French region of Normandy. This 2,000-year-old port city on the River Seine, important in Roman times and the Middle Ages, is a unique city rich with monuments and museums. The skyline is dominated by the spires of Cathédrale Notre-Dame, much-painted by Claude Monet. The churches of Saint-Maclou and Saint-Ouen are also must-see attractions, two of the best examples of Gothic architecture in France and an important part of Rouen’s history.
Day 11 At sea
As we sail towards home you may want to rest after all your adventures. If you’re still full of energy, there‘s lots to fill your time - from quizzes, games and music recitals to walks on deck and dance classes. And of course there’s plenty of opportunity to enjoy all the tasty food options.
Day 12 Liverpool
We arrive back early this morning and your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
