Three Rivers of France
Cruising the Gironde, Garonne and Seine

Day 3 - Lorient, France
We arrive in the French city of Lorient, once one of Germany’s most important U-Boat stations, with a key role in the Second World War. Having been destroyed by Allied bombing raids, Lorient was rebuilt and now showcases post 1950s architecture along with an array of modern museums and galleries. Learn of the past with a visit to the Cité de la Voile, an interactive museum focused on portraying the city’s significant position as a historic shipbuilding and fishing port since it was founded in the 17th century. The beautiful harbour, National Maritime Museum and the Keroman Submarine Base are all worth a visit.
Day 4 - Cruising Gironde & Garonne Rivers - Bordeaux (overnight)
After sailing along the coastline we begin our journey inland, cruising along the Gironde & Garonne Rivers that flow through the lovely French countryside and picturesque lands to Bordeaux, where we dock overnight.
Day 5 - Bordeaux
Awake in Bordeaux, known for its world-famous wines. Discover the rich array of lush-green vineyards and perhaps enjoy a tasting. Alternatively, explore the impressive collection of historic monuments - 362 to be exact - including some buildings dating back to Roman times; an amazing 1,810 hectares of the city centre has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A particular must-see is the Place des Quinconces, considered one of Europe’s largest squares and home to the Grand Theatre de Bordeaux.
Day 6 - At sea
Days 7-8 - Rouen (overnight)
Explore Normandy’s 2,000-year old museum city, Rouen; wander the narrow streets of tall, half-timbered houses discovering superb museums and monuments along the way. Visit the wonderful Gothic Cathedral, which inspired Monet to paint over 30 exquisite canvasses. It towers over the intriguing Old Town, home to a superb collection of medieval buildings. With two days at your disposal, you could spend a day discovering the city’s enchanting botanical garden, Jardin de Plantes de Rouen, boasting various gardens including a rock garden, rose garden and medicinal garden, home to 600 plant species.
