French River Cruising to Bordeaux
Including overnight stops in Bordeaux and Rouen
A river cruise on an ocean-going cruise ship might sound impossible, however Fred. Olsen’s smaller Braemar can access some size-restricted waterways, allowing hours of daytime scenic cruising along some of the picturesque rivers that take you closer to historic, culture-rich cities of France. You’ll visit Rouen first, situated in the heart of historic Normandy. An overnight stay here will afford you plenty of time to explore. Returning 60 nautical miles along the River Seine, taking in unspoilt views of lush green countryside and quaint communes dotted along the riverbanks, we follow the French coast to witness gorgeous scenes of the Gironde and Garonne Rivers as you arrive in beautiful Bordeaux. Finally it’s on to Lorient, a city that feels typically French today but was once one of Germany’s most important U-boat bases.
