Day 1 - Southampton
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to Southampton, where our staff will greet you and assist with embarking Black Watch (3T+) in preparation for a late evening sailing.
Day 2 - At sea
Take a day to explore the excellent onboard facilities.
Day 3 - Hamburg (overnight)
This morning, we arrive in Hamburg where the city’s Christmas markets sell delicious traditional sweet treats such as lebkuchen and glühwein and an array of handmade gifts. Later, away from the hustle and bustle you can explore the remarkable, historic city lit by beautiful Christmas decorations. With a web of waterways, canals and bridges decorating the streets, there is more than enough to keep you occupied as you discover the city’s cherished historic monuments. Highlights include the 17th century Zollenbrücke Bridge, the oldest bridge in Hamburg, Hamburg Rathaus and the magnificent church of St Nikolai, a structure completely destroyed during the Second World War and now serving as a memorial and landmark. There’s also plenty of time to relax along the vibrant waterfront district which boasts an abundance of lively restaurants at the scenic harbour.
Day 4 - Cruising North Sea Canal - Amsterdam (overnight)
Having left Hamburg, we cruise the North Sea Canal (Noordzeekanaal), the waterway that brings us to the fascinating city of Amsterdam and one of the country’s single busiest and important shipping lanes. On this scenic journey you will travel through the 16-mile canal, capturing a number of diverse sights along the way, including Second World War fortifications, charming beaches and beautiful nature reserves, before a late evening arrival into Amsterdam, the fascinating capital of the Netherlands, where we dock overnight.
Day 5 - Amsterdam
The historic Netherlands capital is well known for its idyllic, charming appearance with tree-lined canals and bridges scattered throughout the city, and at Christmas time the atmosphere and twinkling decorations make visiting the city all the more magical. Pretty 17th century merchant houses fill the multiple canalsides; structures which have more recently been converted to boutiques, delightful cafés, apartments and hotels, and classic bookshops. Must-sees include the fascinating museums of Amsterdam and, as there are 40 in total you will have plenty to choose from including the Van Gogh Museum home to 500 drawings and 200 paintings. The Stedelijk Museum displays fascinating works of art by a number of famed European artists including Picasso and Manet and the Anne Frank House, now transformed into a museum the house was the setting for the haunting Second World War experience Anne Frank and her family had, whilst hiding from the German occupiers. A highlight of the beautiful capital is the Canal Ring District, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that hosts some of the most expensive properties in the Netherlands.
Day 6 - Cruising Western Scheldt River - Antwerp (overnight)
Setting sail this morning we are treated to a relaxing day on board, while cruising the Western Scheldt River. The only direct waterway to the North Sea, The Western Scheldt River serves a key shipping port of Antwerp and an interesting journey as there are no bridges crossing the river but only a tunnel linking Ellewoutsdijk to Terneuzen. We arrive in Antwerp late this afternoon where we dock overnight.
Day 7 - Antwerp
Belgium’s fine city renowned for its work in the diamond world - 80% of the world’s diamonds pass through its diamond district at one time or another - Antwerp is certainly a unique place to discover. Today, you can indulge in some last-minute Christmas shopping in the famous chocolate shops or in the glistening diamond district. Discover works of art in The Royal Museum of Fine Arts and in the city’s 20 other spectacular museums, you may also like to enjoy a wander through the idyllic streets to admire the fine buildings, charming parks and gardens and fantastic variety of shops. Antwerp Zoo is particularly popular, with more than 6,000 animals from 750 different species - renowned since its founding in 1843, for research and conservation.
Day 8 Southampton
We disembark after breakfast and you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
