The picturesque northern maritime regions of the Iberian Peninsula, lusher and more verdant than its sun-baked heart, have become known as ‘Green Spain’, and this delightful cruise blends scenic splendour with cultural treasures. Take a stroll through the historic streets of La Coruña (or join a tour to world-famous Santiago de Compostela) and savour sunshine and cider in Gijon. Santander is perfectly placed for excursions to the stunning Picos de Europa Mountains, and Bilbao counts delicious pintxos, local rioja wine and the iconic Guggenheim Museum amongst its many pleasures.

Day 2 - At sea
Take a day to ease into the relaxed rhythm of a Balmoral cruise.
Day 3 - La Coruña, Spain
There is plenty to enjoy in the provincial capital of La Coruña, including a compact Old Quarter, Roman lighthouse and several excellent museums. Alternatively, join a tour that follows in the footsteps of countless medieval pilgrims to the iconic, UNESCO World Heritage-listed cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.
Day 4 - Gijon
The lively, characterful port of Gijon can trace its maritime history back millennia. As such, a number of fine old buildings await discovery here, but don’t miss the opportunity also to ‘taste’ the region of Asturias, where specialities include fabada (a sausage and bean casserole) and caldereta (fish stew), washed down with refreshing, delicious local cider.
Day 5 - Santander
An elegant city set between sea and mountains, Santander is another jewel of northern Spain. Choose gentle exploration of its fine boulevards and buildings, sample more regional delicacies (including fried squid and breaded whitebait) or join a tour to the nearby Altamira Caves, adorned with some of the most significant prehistoric paintings ever discovered.
Day 6 - Getxo (for Bilbao)
The attractive seaside town of Getxo is also the gateway to Bilbao, the largest city of Spain’s Basque Country and home to some stunning architectural treasures, not least the 14th century Gothic cathedral and Frank Gehry’s extraordinary Guggenheim Museum, acclaimed the most important building of its time when it opened in 1997.
Days 7-8 - At sea
Two further days at sea invite you to unwind and appreciate Balmoral’s superb amenities and entertainments.
Day 9 Dover
We disembark after breakfast and you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
