  • RDE DAY 1

    Day 1 - UK - Budapest

Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your flight to Budapest. Upon arrival, we transfer to embark our ship, where light refreshments are available.
The Danube divides the city into two: hilly Buda in the west and to the east, the flat plains of Pest. The two are interlinked by the famously beautiful chain bridge, which lights up each evening (perhaps head up on deck after dinner this evening to see the city light up around you).
The beauty of this city has inspired writers, artists and musicians for centuries. In Buda, Gellért Hill affords wonderful views of the city, river and mountains. On the Pest side are the Parliament buildings and National Museum, which contain remarkable treasures.

  • RDE DAY 2

    Day 2 - Budapest - Esztergom

This morning we’ll uncover this iconic city together on a city tour. We’ll take in all the highlights such as the Great Synagogue, St Stephen’s Basilica, the Parliament buildings, City Park, and Heroes’ Square. You’ll then have some time to yourself in this great city before we set sail early this afternoon.
As we meander along the river from Budapest, you’ll spot Esztergom’s huge basilica rising out of the countryside seemingly from nowhere. But as we get closer, you’ll realise it’s not countryside at all. Esztergom is the former capital of Hungary and its attraction runs deeper than its domed centrepiece. In fact, the nation’s first king was born here in AD 975. Spend some time early evening lingering among its picturesque streets packed with historic attractions.

  • RDE DAY 3

    Day 3 - Bratislava

Today, we dock in Slovakia. You might choose to join us on an optional excursion into Bratislava on the tourist train through the city. Wander through the charming old town and past the dominating Bratislava Castle (Hrad) - where 11 kings and 8 queens were crowned. After, take a wander for yourself - the old town is a perfect walkable size full of pretty pastel houses.
Bratislava was once considered a suburb of Vienna and its café culture has certainly been inspired by the Austrian capital. Wander into one of the atmospheric coffee houses, stylish cafés or alfresco eateries to sit, sip and see as passers-by go about their day.

  • RDE DAY 4

    Day 4 - Linz

Enjoy a relaxing morning on board before arriving in Linz this afternoon. Wander through the old town under your own steam, or perhaps join our optional city tour. The city offers a delightful mix of modern and historic architecture, including Linzer Schloss. For a better view of the city, perhaps take a ride on the Pöstlingbergbahn, a narrow-gauge railway that climbs up the steep incline of the Pöstlingberg hill to the north of the city.

  • RDE DAY 5

    Day 5 - Passau

A town built on the confluence of the rivers Danube, Inn and Ilz, Passau is warmly referred to as the ‘City of Three Rivers’. We kick start the day with a city tour through the historic old town. We wind past baroque architecture and along the cobblestone streets leading up to the magnificent St Stephen’s Cathedral, home to the world’s largest cathedral organ.

    MS River Discovery II (4-star)

  • RDE DAY 6

    Day 6 - Krems

Krems an der Donau is the gateway to the Wachau and one of the prettiest towns sitting astride the Danube. Today we spend the morning meandering along the river, sailing through some of the incredible scenery of the Wachau Valley. This scenic stretch will treat you to rolling hills neatly laid out with riesling vines, forest-cloaked cliffs and the rugged Iron Gates gorge. We’ll pass old towns and villages and castle ruins as we go, before arriving in Krems itself.
Krems is a historic city full of character with a long history of wine production which we’ll learn about on our included excursion to Göttweig Abbey. The UNESCO-listed abbey complex boasts a walled courtyard and gardens, stunning baroque design and a striking interior. We’ll learn about the abbey’s wine production and enjoy a tasting in a nearby vineyard.
The rest of the day can be spent as you please. Take the time to wander the streets and dip into the churches and museums, stroll the banks of the Danube and maybe taste the local Marillenschnaps (apricot brandy).

  • RDE DAY 7

    Day 7 - Vienna

Elegant Vienna is often a highlight of a river cruise on the Danube. Its streets are lined with baroque architecture and opulent palaces, its museums are filled with priceless works of art, and its café windows are chock-full of delicate pastries, sugar-dusted apple strudel and slices of rich sachertorte. We devote a whole day to this photogenic city and we stay overnight, giving you plenty of time to soak up all its charms.
We start with a city tour this morning, taking in all the highlights like Prince Eugene’s lavish Belvedere Palace, the State Opera, the sprawling Hofburg residence of Emperor Franz Joseph, and the Parliament buildings. The afternoon is then yours to spend as you please. Don’t miss the opportunity to brush off your dancing shoes aboard the ship this afternoon - we’ve organised a waltz lesson with a local dance instructor.
This evening you might like to join an optional excursion to watch a classical music concert in one of the city’s many concert halls. A true experience of Vienna.

  • RDE DAY 8

    Day 8 - Vienna

We disembark this morning after breakfast and head to the UNESCO-listed Schönbrunn Palace and Gardens. The vast, partially forested gardens surrounding this opulent 18th-century palace are magnificent. We’ll enjoy a guided tour before some free time to explore the gardens, with their Roman ruins and original fountains. We’ll also enjoy a taste of traditional Appelstrudel during a cooking demonstration.
This afternoon, we check into our hotel for the next two nights.

    MS River Discovery II (4-star)

  • RDE DAY 9

    Day 9 - Vienna

Most of the day is yours to spend as you please. Perhaps head to the Kunsthistoriches Museum, which holds one of Europe’s finest collections of art and artefacts or jump on the tram for a ride around the Ringstrasse, where the city’s architectural highlights can be found.
Later, we head to the nearby traditional Viennese village of Grinzing. With its little, colourful houses and cobbled streets edged by the Vienna Woods, Grinzing feels like a toy town straight from the storybooks. But locally, it’s known as a wine tavern village for its vineyards and Heurigen (rustic wine taverns). It’s a place of Austrian tradition, where visitors tuck into plates of hearty food and sample the local wine while swaying to the signature folk accordion music.
