Day 2 - Cruising Loch Fyne
Today we cruise Scotland’s majestic waters and stunning Loch Fyne, the longest of the sea lochs, extending 40 miles inland from the Sound of Bute. It is particularly renowned for its oyster fishery and fascinating wildlife including seals and otters. A full day on board is also the perfect opportunity to familiarise yourself with the onboard facilities.
Day 3 - Corran Narrows - Cruising Loch Linnhe - Fort William - Duart Castle - Sound of Mull
Admire the rugged views as we pass through the Corran Narrows - the narrowest point of Loch Linnhe - en route to Fort William, the second largest settlement in the Scottish Highlands. With Ben Nevis on its doorstep, it is a popular base for an outdoor adventure, but the town itself is worth seeing, with the historic Old Fort which was first built by Cromwell in 1654. Later tonight we sail past the 13th century Duart Castle of the Clan Maclean, and into the Sound of Mull. Ship to shore tender service.
Day 4 - Stornoway, Isle of Lewis
Stornoway is the largest town and port of the Outer Hebrides, located on the Isle of Lewis. Settled by Vikings because of its sheltered harbour, it is still a main sea port and an attractive place to explore - watch the local fishermen at work in the beautiful harbour, or discover the great Lews Castle. Originally built in the 19th century, the castle has been one of Stornoway’s most important landmarks and was used as a naval hospital during World War II. The grand structure is now open to the public and boasts a fascinating archive museum and stunning gardens. Ship to shore tender service.
Day 5 - Invergordon
Discover more of the Scottish Highlands’ beauty as we dock at Invergordon this morning, our gateway to the mystical waters of Loch Ness. You can visit the historic Dunrobin Castle - the largest house in the Highlands; explore the 14th century Urquhart Castle; encounter the island’s outstanding sea life such as bottlenose dolphins; or enjoy an authentic walk through the unforgettable Rogie Falls - a stunning waterfall decorated with lush green woodland and an exciting variety of wildlife.
Day 6 - Kirkwall, Orkney Islands
This morning we arrive in Kirkwall, the capital of the Orkney archipelago which separates the East and West Mainland. Visit the historic Old Town and Kirkwall’s main feature, St Magnus Cathedral; founded in 1137 this outstanding structure dominates the skyline and one of the best-preserved medieval cathedrals in Scotland. While here you can admire the Romanesque, Transitional and Gothic styles of the building which took more than three centuries to complete.
Day 7 - At sea
During our last day, perhaps perfect your skills at deck quoits or shuffleboard, test your golf swing or enjoy a game of deck tennis.
