    Balmoral (3.5-star)

  • Days 2-3 - At sea

As we sail to our first destination, you’re free to do as much (or as little) as you wish. Maybe start your day off with a brisk walk around the deck. Or opt for a yoga class. Spend the afternoon learning a craft, or perfecting your golf swing. After your choice of dinner, you can catch a show or dance into the night.

    Balmoral (3.5-star)

  • Day 4 - Leixões (for Porto), Portugal

It’s just a short journey from Leixões to Porto, one of Europe’s loveliest cities. Perhaps head for the historic Ribeira district, following cobbled streets down to the glimmering waters of the Douro. Stop off at one of the wine cellars along the way for a tasting of some locally produced ports. The fortress-like cathedral is a highlight, with its romantic 14th century cloister and traditional blue-and-white tiles.

    Balmoral (3.5-star)

  • Day 5 - At sea

Today is free as we continue our cruise. Enjoy a hearty breakfast then take your pick from the variety of activities on board. Show off your general knowledge in an afternoon or evening quiz. Try your hand at bridge, bingo or deck quoits. Or indulge in a traditional afternoon tea to while away your time. Top off the day with a sumptuous dinner or a simple tasty buffet.

    Balmoral (3.5-star)

  • Day 6 - Funchal, Madeira

Subtropical Funchal, capital of the Madeiran archipelago, is our destination today. There’s plenty to discover in the city itself, from botanical gardens and flower-filled parks (there’s a good reason Madeira is nicknamed the ‘floating garden’) to fortified-wine cellars and an impressive Gothic and Romanesque cathedral. Alternatively, you might like to see a bit more of the island. Head away from the coastline and you’ll find soaring mountains, lush levadas (walkways) and a UNESCO-protected laurel forest.

    Balmoral (3.5-star)

  • Day 7 - Santa Cruz, Tenerife

We’ll arrive in Tenerife’s cosmopolitan capital late morning, with the rest of the day and evening to explore. Take in the city’s sights (colonial churches, shady plazas, the baroque Palacio de Carta) or perhaps venture further afield to the island’s sandy beaches and whitewashed towns. For wide-angle views across the island, you might like to take the cable car up Mount Teide, Spain’s highest peak.

    Balmoral (3.5-star)

  • Days 8-9 - At sea

Spend two days on board. Maybe read a book and relax or choose to listen to a fascinating talk by a guest speaker. Enjoy lunchtime melodies or a piano recital, then walk a mile with the cruise fitness instructor.

    Balmoral (3.5-star)

  • Day 10 - Praia, Cape Verde

Today, we’ll arrive in Cape Verde, a volcanic archipelago scattered some 400 miles off the African coast. Praia, on the island of Santiago, is the archipelago’s capital - and a great introduction to this unspoilt destination. Get an insight into Cape Verde’s history at the Archaeology Museum or in nearby Cidade Velha (a UNESCO-listed former slave trading outpost), or admire the Portuguese-style architecture in the old town centre. As the islands enjoy balmy temperatures all year round, you might like to spend a few hours at one of the beaches.

    Balmoral (3.5-star)

  • Day 11 - Mindelo, Cape Verde

São Vicente island showcases some of the archipelago’s most spectacular landscapes. Island tours can take you to see its vast volcanic valleys and jagged peaks, including the highest point on the island, Monte Verde. If you’d prefer to stay in Mindelo, you could wander around the African market or the atmospheric historic quarter. Look out for the scaled-down replica of Lisbon’s Torre de Belém - you could be seeing the original in just a few days’ time.

    Balmoral (3.5-star)

  • Day 12-13 - At sea

Keep your brain active with the morning quiz, then perfect your dance moves in the afternoon with a beginners’ class. After dinner, you could continue the dancing theme and join the hosted dancing, or choose to watch the professionals instead.

    Balmoral (3.5-star)

  • Day 14 - Arrecife, Lanzarote

We’re back in the Canaries today as we moor up in the bustling port of Arrecife. The port’s two castles, built to protect against invading pirates in the 16th and 17th centuries, house the Ethnographic Museum and the Museum of International & Contemporary Art. Both are worth a visit. Alternatively, head out to explore more of Lanzarote. Walk on the lunar-like lava fields of Timanfaya National Park, or step inside the quirky lava caves of Jameos del Agua, created by local artist and architect César Manrique.

    Balmoral (3.5-star)

  • Day 15 - At sea

Another day to spend as you wish.

    Balmoral (3.5-star)

  • Day 16 - Lisbon, Portugal

Spend today exploring Lisbon on foot, by tram or even by tuk-tuk. Spread over seven hills overlooking the estuary of the River Tagus, the streets here are lined with baroque churches, seafood restaurants and bakeries turning out trays of delicious pasteis de nata (custard tarts). Just along the coast in Belém, you’ll find the Gothic Jerónimos Monastery, the sail-shaped Discoveries Monument and the (full-size) Torre de Belém.

    Balmoral (3.5-star)

  • Days 17-18 - At sea

As we sail home you may want to rest after all your sightseeing. If you’re still full of energy, there‘s lots to fill your time - from quizzes, games and music recitals to walks on deck and dance classes. And of course there’s plenty of opportunity to enjoy all the tasty food options.

    Balmoral (3.5-star)

  • Day 19 Southampton

We arrive back in Southampton early this morning, disembarking after breakfast. Upon arrival, your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
