Welcome to Denmark
Day 1 Southampton
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your journey to Southampton. Embark Braemar (3.5-star) in preparation for a late afternoon sailing.
Day 2 At sea
As we sail towards Germany, you’re free to do as much (or as little) as you wish. Maybe start your day off with a brisk walk around the deck. Or opt for a yoga class. Spend the afternoon learning a craft, or perfecting your golf swing. After your choice of dinner, you can catch a show or dance into the night.
Day 3 Kiel Canal transit
Today we’ll pass through one of the world’s busiest waterways: the Kiel Canal. Slicing through the German countryside, it offers ships a shortcut to travel between the North and Baltic seas.
Day 4 Aabenraa, Denmark
Our first Danish destination is Aabenraa, a quaint port only accessible to smaller-sized cruise ships. The name translates as ‘open beach’, and the town’s soft sands are perfect for whiling away a sunny day. Other highlights include St Nicolai Church and Queen Margaret’s Brundlund Castle.
Day 5 Cruising Limfjorden - Aalborg
En route to Aalborg, we’ll cruise through one of Denmark’s most famous fjords - keep your camera handy to capture the valley views and picturesque harbours. We arrive in Aalborg late morning. There’s a lovely waterfront to stroll along, as well as a cluster of medieval landmarks to seek out (the 14th century cathedral and half-timbered castle in particular). The city’s past looms large in Aalborg Historical Museum, where exhibitions tell the 1,000-year story of the port. For something more contemporary, stop by the Utzon Center or futuristic House of Music.
Day 6 Fredericia
This fortress town has an intriguing medieval and military past - a wander through the town centre reveals old ramparts, fortifications and cannons. Alternatively, venture to nearby Odense, a fairytale city that’s home to a Gothic-style cathedral and a museum dedicated to Hans Christian Anderson.
Day 7 Copenhagen
Spend the day enjoying Copenhagen’s cultural treasures - royal jewels at Rosenborg Castle, Golden Age paintings at the National Gallery, contemporary art at Kunsthal Charlottenborg. Or perhaps take it easy instead. Go for a stroll along historic Nyhavn canal, stopping for a cappuccino on one of the café terraces, or pay a visit to Tivoli Gardens, an old-fashioned amusement park with vintage carnival games and a century-old wooden roller-coaster.
Day 8 Hundested
This morning, we arrive in the pretty harbour town of Hundested. Relax on its quiet beaches, explore one of the biggest dolmens (ancient burial mounds) in Denmark, or tuck in to a delicious seafood lunch - fishing is big business here. The nearby village of Kikhavn, with its traditional farmhouses and picturesque harbour, is also worth a visit. Alternatively, opt for a tour to Kronborg Castle - the setting for Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet’.
Day 9 Kiel Canal transit
We cruise back through the Kiel Canal today as we return to the UK.
Day 10 At sea
Sailing home you may want to rest after all your sightseeing. If you’re still full of energy, there‘s lots to fill your time - from quizzes, games and music recitals to walks on deck and dance classes. And of course there’s plenty of opportunity to enjoy all the tasty food options.
Day 11 Southampton
We arrive back in Southampton early this morning, disembarking after breakfast. Upon arrival, your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
