Boxing Day - Prague
This morning we visit the Prague Castle complex, which includes St George’s Basilica, the oldest church building within it, founded by Prince Vratislav (915-921). The basilica was enlarged in 973 with the building of St George’s Benedictine Convent. We also visit the Old Royal Palace, which was founded in the 9th century as the seat of the Czech princes and kings and over the centuries all the major architectural styles would leave their mark. A special atmosphere reigns in the little street by Prague Castle, called Golden Lane. It is lined with small picturesque houses that resemble dolls houses more than people’s homes. The origins of some of these colourful buildings go back to the 16th century and the renowned writer Franz Kafka lived in Golden Lane for some time during World War I. We have included a sightseeing cruise on the River Vltava. Your cruise includes a buffet lunch, accompanied by music. Do not forget to bring your camera to capture the fantastic views of the river - you will see some of Prague’s important buildings and historic monuments, including St Agnes Monastery, the Rudolfinum, Charles Bridge, majestic Prague Castle and the National Theatre. This evening, our final buffet dinner will take place at our hotel.
