  • Larnaca

    Larnaca

Larnaca was built on Phoenician ruins, and you can still get a taste of ancient life. Our tour begins at one of the most important holy places for Muslims - Hala Sultan Tekke Mosque. We visit the salt lake which St Lazarus is said to have created, and the church built over his tomb, before driving through Achna, where much of the local produce is grown. This evening, we head to a traditional Cypriot taverna. Situated well off the tourist trail, we get a true taste of typical Cypriot cuisine - over 20 delicious dishes will be laid out for you to sample - while the beer and local wine flows freely and local musicians entertain. The island is renowned for its traditional meze - small dishes that include a huge variety of tasty treats - so you’ll experience a real flavour of the area.

  • Protaras

    Protaras

Protaras sits within easy reach of several of Cyprus’ best beaches - a good excuse to spend some of your free day relaxing! The selection of shops, restaurants and cafés make it easy to explore and enjoy the town, or you can find a boat trip departing from a small, local harbour.

  • Protaras

    Protaras

Our tour of Cyprus stops at the beautiful village of Lefkara, where you might spot women working on fine embroidery and silversmiths forging fine filigree. The Bee and Embroidery museum in Kato Drys shows old Cypriot culture, with exhibitions on embroidery and bee keeping. After a light lunch in a traditional taverna, we head to Skarinou to watch a halloumi cheese demonstration, with a tasting, and visit a donkey farm. Cyprus donkeys were the primary mode of transport for centuries. The farm also accommodates a winery and an ancient olive press.

  • Protaras

    Protaras

Enjoy a free day in Protaras, or join an optional excursion to take in views of Varosha, a town abandoned in 1974 when the Turks invaded, and visit the ancient district of Famagusta. Othello Castle inspired Shakespeare while writing his tragedy set in a sea port in Cyprus. Finally, visit one of the greatest commercial centres of the eastern Roman Empire - Salamis. It was the capital of Cyprus in 1100 BC, and destroyed by Arab invaders in 648 BC.

  • Protaras

    Protaras

Relax at your leisure or take an optional excursion to Nicosia. It’s Europe’s last divided capital, with a restricted zone separating Greek and Turkish Cyprus. Visit the Cyprus Archaeological Museum, then head through the old city gates to find ethnic Cypriot life and crumbling buildings abandoned in 1974. Visit prominent landmarks in North Nicosia such as Slimiye Mosque and the largest caravanserai in Cyprus.

  • Protaras
