Day 2 - Melk - Vienna
Melk is dominated by its spectacular Benedictine Abbey, the country’s spiritual centre for over 1,000 years. Our excursion allows you to discover its grand interior, embellished with great frescoes. It is renowned for its library full of priceless medieval manuscripts, and an abbey church adorned with an abundance of gold, marble and colourful murals. We sail in the afternoon to Vienna, arriving in the late evening.
Day 3 - Vienna
The Austrian capital is one of Europe’s most beautiful cities, and we embark on a guided tour, taking in highlights such as St Stephen’s Cathedral, the State Opera House and the majestic Hofburg Palace, followed by free time for you to browse or relax in a traditional Viennese coffee house. Back on board this afternoon, you have the opportunity to join a waltz dance lesson, and later this evening, why not take the opportunity to join an optional excursion to see a performance of Mozart or Strauss in a beautiful Viennese setting.
Day 4 - Dürnstein
One of the prettiest towns along the Danube, Dürnstein is watched over by the ruined hilltop castle where Richard the Lionheart was once held for ransom, and is surrounded by vineyards which produce some of Austria’s finest wines. Take a stroll along the cobbled lanes or join an optional orientation tour and wine tasting.
Day 5 - Linz
With its wealth of Baroque and neoclassical architecture, Linz is a joy to explore. You might like to join an optional walking tour or meander at leisure. The Old Town still retains its cobblestone charm, large main square and beautiful stucco façades, while around it you can find cutting edge architecture - the city is not afraid of welcoming the future. We depart this evening.
Day 6 - Passau
Visit the ‘Three Rivers City’ of Passau, on the confluence of the rivers Danube, Inn and Ilz. The Old Town is a pleasant place for a walk - it was the largest bishopric in the Holy Roman Empire and remains of their legacy can be seen throughout - and beautifully decorated St Stephan’s Cathedral, home to the world’s largest church organ, is worth visiting. For those who wish, a guide can offer further insight on an optional tour.
Day 7 - Regensburg
Our included excursion is to the Benedictine Weltenburg Abbey, home to the world’s oldest monastic brewery. This afternoon is at leisure in Regensburg, one of Germany’s best-preserved medieval cities. Tonight, enjoy the Captain’s farewell dinner on board.
Day 8 Regensburg - Prague - UK
We transfer to Prague Airport for your return flight to the UK. Upon arrival, your Titan vehicle will be waiting for the journey home.
