Vienna is a beautiful city to explore at any time of year, with its Baroque castles and gardens and stunning grand buildings and monuments, but in late November and December it takes on an even more magical appearance. The city’s passion for Christmas is evident everywhere, but one shouldn’t expect gaudy Christmas lights and decorations; the city is adorned in lavish chandeliers, elaborately decorated trees are dotted on every corner, whilst the aroma of gingerbread, Glühwein and sausage drifts from the many Christmas markets. This tour provides you with three full days to explore the city, and our chosen hotel is perfectly positioned within a short walk of the centre.

Day 2 Vienna
We depart this morning for a guided tour of Vienna. Our tour includes views of the lavish terraced gardens of Prince Eugene’s Belvedere Palace, the State Opera House, the Hofburg residence of Emperor Franz Josef, and the Parliament Buildings. We finish at St Stephen’s Cathedral after which you are free to explore the delights of this fascinating and historic city at leisure. An undoubted part of the city’s ‘soul’, is its café culture and we would thoroughly recommend allowing time to sit back with a coffee, apple strudel and vanilla custard and watch the world go by.
Day 3 Vienna
Enjoy a morning at leisure, where you might wish to visit the Spanish Riding School where morning training sessions give a good insight into the training programme of the white stallions. This afternoon we visit the Rathausplatz where the Vienna Magic of Advent Christmas market is located. Here you can browse at your own pace the 150 or so stalls offering gifts, decorations, sweets and warming drinks. The trees of the surrounding City Hall Park are festively decorated and radiate in a sea of lights. This evening you can choose an optional excursion to see a performance of Strauss and Mozart.
Day 4 Vienna
This morning we offer an optional excursion to Schönbrunn Palace. At Christmas time the Palace grounds are transformed with the buzz of excitement as it hosts one of Vienna’s most spectacular Christmas markets. Roasted sausages, gingerbread, toys, and highly decorative Christmas candles, plus much more festive fare are to be enjoyed. Inside the Palace, headsets with English-speaking commentary will be provided so you can progress at your own pace through the state rooms which are decorated in the Rococo style of the 18th century and filled with frescoes, crystal chandeliers, priceless tapestries and furniture. We return to our hotel this afternoon for free time.
Day 5 Vienna - London
We transfer to Vienna Airport for our direct, scheduled Austrian Airlines flight to London Heathrow Airport. On arrival you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
