London - In flight
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to London Heathrow Airport and a direct, scheduled British Airways flight to Tokyo.
Transfer to Keio Plaza Hotel (4T), located in Shinjuku, in the very heart of the Tokyo metropolis, for a two-night stay. This evening, we enjoy an included group dinner.
We embrace this dazzling city with a full-day tour, taking in legendary landmarks - the moated Imperial Palace, the Ginza (Silver Mint) district, the five-storey Asakusa Kannon Temple. Then a sushi-making experience for lunch, followed by a boat cruise from Asakusa to Hamarikyu Gardens.
Day 4 - Tokyo - Yokohama
A leisurely start to the day to further explore Tokyo before we transfer to Yokohama to embark MS Volendam (4T) this afternoon, with plenty of time to settle into your cabin before dinner this evening.
Day 5 - At sea
A leisurely day at sea provides the perfect opportunity to settle into life on board, relax on deck and join in one of the many onboard activities.
Day 6 - Amami Oshima
The island of Amami Oshima is a lush haven, mostly covered in forests full of rare plants, animals and colourful birds. Villages with a rich history that stretches over 1,300 years have developed a unique cuisine and impressive textiles, making silks with intricate patterns for traditional kimonos.
Day 7 - Naha
Scene of one of the most bitter World War II battles in the Pacific and the only one on Japanese soil, the isle of Okinawa is now known for its rolling green landscapes, tranquil fishing villages, temples dedicated to the gods of the sea and 2-mile long Gyokusendo Cave with 900,000 stalagmites and stalactites and underground streams.
Day 8 - At sea
Days 9-10 - Shanghai, China
Neon pulses, soaring skyscrapers pierce the sky, cutting edge Magnetic Levitation Trains propel at incredible speeds, construction never stops in Shanghai’s race to modernity. Still, you can feel the city’s silk past in the peaceful Yu Gardens, its history as a financial powerhouse in the international banks along The Bund. Acrobat shows and artefact-filled temples display traditional Chinese arts, and a little out of the city, waterside towns illustrate old-world China.
Day 11 - At sea
Day 12 - Fukuoka, Japan
Fukuoka is a growing city with a 2,000-year trading history, its ruined castle a symbol of its feudal past. It is a city of large mirrored towers and old shrines decorated with mythical creatures, and a gateway to other intriguing destinations such as Kokura, a castle town accessible by bullet train.
Day 13 - Busan, South Korea
Find stillness at some of the largest Korean Buddhist temples, including Beomeo-sa, first constructed in the year 678 and home to over one thousand monks; it also contains seven different registered national and cultural treasures. Near the port, explore the famous Jagalchi fish market or the city's renowned beach resorts. Journey to the Dongnae area to soak in the city's healing hot springs. We then navigate the Kanmon Straits, which separates two of Japan’s main islands.
Day 15 - Kochi
Surrounded by mountains and dotted with hot springs, Kochi is rich in natural wonders, and continues to practice long traditions including Tosa washi, traditional handmade Japanese paper, and old sake breweries. It is also the birthplace of revolutionary Sakamoto Ryoma, who played an instrumental part in the modernisation of Japan.
Day 16 - Osaka
Succulent Kobe beef, sukiyaki and sushi all tantalise in this boisterous, earthy city. Perhaps visit Osaka Castle and Shitenno-ji Temple. Built in 593 the temple is believed to be the oldest of its kind in Japan. The temple houses six national treasures and many other items of cultural importance.
Day 17 - Shimizu
Mount Fuji, visible from Shimizu port on a clear day, is just part of the mountainous scene that surrounds the city, as well as the tea plantations that account for 40% of Japan’s tea production.
Day 18 Yokohama - Tokyo - London
We disembark in Yokohama this morning and transfer to Tokyo’s Narita Airport for a direct, scheduled British Airways flight to London Heathrow Airport. On arrival you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle for the journey home.
