Highlights of our full-day tour include the Meiji Shrine, Asakusa district, for a boat cruise to Hamarikyu Gardens. For lunch, we’ll join a sushi-making experience.

Day 6 - Hakodate
Explore the mix of urban and natural beauty in this city, where every spot and every season has something to offer - from hot springs and history.
Day 7 - Akita
Akita is in an area famed for rice production. Perhaps visit the UNESCO-listed Shirakami-Sanchi Mountains where black bears roam, or relax at the Nyuto Hot Springs. After working up an appetite, take the opportunity to taste high-quality sake (rice wine) and indulge in fresh seafood, straight from the Sea of Japan.
Day - Kanazawa
Kanazawa produces approximately 98% of the gold leaf in Japan, however the city’s beauty comes from the esteemed spacious gardens. The sights of this historic castle town include the beautifully preserved samurai and geisha districts, and the Myoryuji Temple, more commonly known as Ninja Temple for all the hidden defences and escape routes.
Day 9 - Sakaiminato
Sakaiminato is famous for its crab market, and as the birthplace of Shigeru Mizuki, a comic book artist who brought manga to the masses. Take a walk down Shigeru Mizuki Road to see over 150 statues of his characters.
Day 10 - Busan, South Korea
Ancient culture and modern life come together in South Korea's second-largest city. Buddhist temples can be found in abundance, and each intricate structure is well-worth a visit. For fresh seafood, head to the fish market, where you can sample it raw. For a true taste of Busan, head to the bustling Gujke Market, or find a pop-up tented bar along the wide beach.
Day 11 - Sasebo, Japan
Once a small fishing village, Sasebo has grown into a sprawling city with stunning views and unique, international flair. Maybe visit the Seishin Cathedral, a neo-Gothic church that has become a symbol for the city, or take a ferry to Kuro-shima Island, one of the 208 largely uninhabited Kujūku islands that dot Japan’s western coast.
Day 12 - Kagoshima
On Kagoshima’s horizon stands Sakurajima, the overactive volcano which frequently dusts the city with ash. The mountain also heats a number of geothermal springs, providing the unique opportunity to relax in a sand bath. For a rare taste of old Japan, visit Chiran’s street of meticulously preserved Samurai houses and manicured gardens.
Day 13 - Kōchi
Kōchi works with a free and daring approach, yet nurtures long traditions including old sake breweries and Tosa Washi - traditional handmade Japanese paper; and is the proud owner of one of only 12 original castles still standing in Japan.
Day 14-15 - Kobe (overnight)
Kobe is the cosmopolitan headquarters for many of Japan’s firms. It is a scenic drive from Osaka, where a five-tiered castle holds artefacts that reflect Japanese folklore; and a short bullet-train ride from Kyoto, capital of Japan from the 8th to the 19th century. Kyoto is home to spectacular shrines and temples, palaces and castles of shoguns and emperors, and narrow stone lanes lined with wooden buildings.
Day 16 - Shimizu
Mount Fuji overlooks this beautiful port town. Bustling with activity, Shimizu is full of commercial highlights. Or stroll through Miho-no-Matsubara, where more than 30,000 pine trees line the seashore, an area that has inspired many legends throughout Japanese history.
Day 17 - Tokyo (overnight)
Tokyo, the world’s largest metropolitan area, is an unforgettable experience. Tour the best ramen and sushi restaurants, visit Akihabara Electric Town to discover cutting-edge gadgets and games, or scale the Tokyo City View - a breathtaking observation deck on the 52nd floor of Mori Tower.
