After arriving in Tokyo, we’ll transfer to our hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax or explore a little of this fascinating city.

Keio Plaza Hotel, Tokyo (4T)

A full-day tour introduces us to some of Tokyo’s highlights. We’ll see the Meiji Shrine, the Imperial Palace and Asakusa Kannon Temple, and take a boat along the Sumida River to the immaculately landscaped Hamarikyu Gardens. We’ll finish the day with a traditional Japanese tea ceremony.

Day 4 - Tokyo (overnight)

After a morning at leisure, we’ll transfer to the port at Yokohama and embark Boudicca.

Boudicca (3T+)

Day 5 - Tokyo

Today, you’re free to see more of Tokyo. Tour serene temples and shrines, browse quirky boutiques and ultra-modern malls, or perhaps opt for a tour to Kamakura to learn more about the origins of samurai culture.

Boudicca (3T+)

Day 6 - Nagoya

We’ll dock close to the centre of Nagoya this morning, bringing the city’s highlights within easy reach. Nagoya was developed as a castle town during the Edo period, and its reconstructed castle is well worth seeing. You might also like to explore Atsuta Shrine. Dating back to the 1st century, it’s one of the most important Shinto shrines in Japan.

Boudicca (3T+)

Days 7-8 - Kobe (overnight)

Kobe is the gateway to historic Osaka. Visit its magnificent castle, surrounded by a park filled with cherry trees, or don a kimono as part of a traditional tea ritual. Osaka is known as the ‘kitchen of Japan’, so be sure to sample a few local specialities while you’re here. As we stay in Kobe overnight, you might also like to head to Kyoto. Japan’s former capital, it’s home to Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines and imperial palaces. Walk through the Gion district and you might catch a glimpse of a geisha in traditional dress.

Boudicca (3T+)

Day 9 - At sea

As we sail towards Hiroshima, you’re free to do as much (or as little) as you wish. Maybe start your day off with a brisk walk around the deck. Or opt for a yoga class. Spend the afternoon learning a craft, or perfecting your golf swing. After your choice of dinner, you can catch a show or dance into the night.

Boudicca (3T+)

Day 10 - Hiroshima

Spend today exploring Hiroshima. The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park is a moving reminder of the atomic-bomb attack on the city - you’ll also find the Peace Memorial Museum and UNESCO-listed A-Bomb Dome here. Hiroshima is also home to a collection of pagodas, temples and shrines. One of the most beautiful is Itsukushima Shrine, set on scenic Miyajima Island. Built in AD 593, it’s a World Heritage Site and a National Treasure - you might recognise the red torii gate, which ‘floats’ in the Seto Inland Sea.

Boudicca (3T+)

Day 11 - Beppu

Nestled between sandy beaches and volcanic mountains, Beppu is famous for its hot springs. Soak in the warm waters of a traditional onsen, or visit one of the mud baths to slather yourself in mineral-rich volcanic mud. For a great photo opportunity, stop by the ‘Hells of Beppu’, where you’ll find the blue springs of Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell) and the red springs of Chi-no-ike Jigoku (Blood Hell).

Day 12 - At sea

Today is free as we continue our cruise. Enjoy a hearty breakfast then take your pick from the variety of activities on board. Show off your general knowledge in an afternoon or evening quiz. Try your hand at bridge, bingo or deck quoits. Or indulge in a traditional afternoon tea to while away your time. Top off the day with a sumptuous dinner or a simple tasty buffet.

Boudicca (3T+)

Day 13 - Nagasaki

This morning we’ll arrive in Nagasaki. It’s set at the foot of Mount Inasa - journey to the mountain’s peak for spectacular views over the city and its harbour. Nagasaki was a major target during WWII, and now houses a Peace Park with symbolic monuments donated by countries around the world.

Boudicca (3T+)

Day 14 - At sea

Spend the day on board. Maybe read a book and relax or choose to listen to a fascinating talk by a guest speaker. Enjoy lunchtime melodies or a piano recital, then walk a mile with the cruise fitness instructor.

Boudicca (3T+)

Day 15 - Keelung, Taipei, Taiwan

Discover Keelung’s historic sites, forts and old temples, or relax in one of this coastal town’s ocean parks.

Boudicca (3T+)

Day 16 - At sea

Keep your brain active with the morning quiz, then perfect your dance moves in the afternoon with a beginners’ class. After dinner, you could continue the dancing theme and join the hosted dancing, or choose to watch the professionals instead.

Boudicca (3T+)

Day 17 - Hong Kong (overnight)

At first glance, Hong Kong is a hectic mix of bright lights, busy streets and towering skyscrapers. But there’s plenty more to this city that first meets the eye. Take a tram up to Victoria Peak for fantastic views across the harbour, step inside one of the serene temples, or wander through markets tucked away in small squares and backstreets.

Boudicca (3T+)

Day 18 Hong Kong - In flight

After disembarking the ship this morning, you’ll enjoy a full-day tour of Hong Kong with free time for lunch and shopping. We then transfer to the airport for an overnight flight to the UK.
