The stunning city of Bruges in Belgium transports its visitors to another time. Its centre is a romantic network of medieval winding streets and canals, all of which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Buenos Aires

The charming capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires is steeped in history and culture and is known as the ‘Paris of South America’, due to the marked European influences on its architecture. Visit the tango clubs and fine restaurants of the 48 ‘barrios’ or neighbourhoods, each with its own unique character and charm, before taking a romantic stroll through the beautiful Bosques de Palermo Park.


Paris is synonymous with love and romance. Walk the historic streets and take in stunning sights such as the Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame Cathedral, Les Invalides, Luxembourg Gardens and, of course, enjoy the panoramic views from the top of the iconic Eiffel Tower. The Greek Islands

Step back in time to marvel at the many treasures of the ancient Greek civilisation on a fantastic Aegean odyssey that includes mainland excursions to Athens and Turkey, where you can visit the remains of Troy in Canakkale. Walk in the company of myths and legends as you visit the crusader stronghold on Rhodes, marvel at the incredibly well preserved sacred temples of Pergamon and Ephesus and learn the fascinating history of the Palace of Knossos on Crete.


Enjoy people watching from one of the cafes that line the Venetian squares before exploring the famous waterways by waterbus. Cultural highlights in the ‘City of Love’ include the magnificent Doge’s Palace, the Guggenheim Museum and the St Maria of Salute Basilica. Located at the foot of Morocco’s majestic Atlas Mountains, Marrakech is famous for its labyrinthine streets and alleys lined with traditional market stalls. After a romantic walk through the Agdal Gardens and a visit to the beautiful 19thcentury Bahia Palace, enjoy the bustle of the exotic Djemaa El Fna Square, where you will find traditional rug and blanket merchants, fortune tellers and even snake charmers.


Austria’s cultural capital, Vienna is famous for its architectural splendour. Highlights include Prince Eugene’s Belvedere Palace, surrounded by elegant terraced gardens, the astonishing Schönbrunn Palace, with its exquisite Rococo interiors, and the Parliament buildings on the banks of the majestic River Danube. Kyoto is a Japanese paradise located in the centre of Honshu, Japan’s largest island. It features wonderful traditional shrines and temples surrounded by colourful sculpted gardens of enchanting beauty. Enjoy a traditional tea ceremony before visiting the wonderful Ryoanji Temple, famous for its romantic rock garden, and the Kinkakuji Temple, whose top two floors are exquisitely decorated in gold leaf.

Nicola considers herself very lucky to have had the opportunity to visit a number of places around the world and these experiences usually involve searching for as many kinds of wildlife as possible.
