Rob Stapley's Introduction to Cruising

Senior Product Manager Robert Stapley has been with Titan for 11 years, and is currently responsible for overseeing Titan’s ocean cruise itineraries. Rob says that he is excited by the endless opportunities for fantastic holidays offered by ocean cruising, and loves being at sea, looking forward to the next port of call and feeling part of an ocean-going adventure, and he has been lucky enough to visit many of Titan’s cruise holiday destinations. Below he shares his thoughts on why he thinks a cruise really is the perfect holiday.

There are so many great reasons to take a cruise holiday. To begin with, I just love that sense of adventure and anticipation when embarking the ship and again when it sails away from port, and of course, there’s a very strong social side to cruising; you will often share tables at dinner with your fellow guests and enjoy sharing stories of your experiences in each port of call.

A cruise is also a very relaxing way to travel; unpack your bags just the once, and then let the cruise ship move the scenery for you as you sail from port to port and explore a range of destinations on a carefully planned itinerary. And with your meals, nightly entertainment, and a wide selection of on-board activities and facilities included in your holiday price, a cruise represents superb value, too.

Additionally, a cruise is a very safe way to travel, with virtually no crime or other such problems to worry about on board, making it an attractive option for some travellers, including solo guests, and will perhaps give individuals the confidence to visit places around the world that they might otherwise be hesitant to travel to independently.

One of the great pleasures of cruising is the variety of on-board dining options – cruising is a delight for foodies, and from a private breakfast on your balcony or up on deck watching the scenery pass by, through to a sumptuous dinner in the evening and then perhaps a midnight snack, there’s certainly no shortage of wonderful cuisine to enjoy at any time of the day.

The entertainment on cruise ships varies from spectacular, Broadway style shows in two-story theatres through to string quartets playing in the smaller and more intimate lounge bars. And for those who are interested in discovering more about the region that they are visiting, many cruises offer talks from expert guest speakers to enhance the travelling experience.

Titan’s collection of ocean and river cruises offers superb choice, with almost 120 holidays to choose from worldwide. Our cruise partners are carefully selected to enable us to offer a wide range of cruise experience to suit all budgets and tastes and to visit all seven of the world’s continents.

We were pioneers in the concept of combining a land-based tour with a cruise to create a great value package and we constantly strive to find new opportunities to offer these unique cruise and tour holidays to iconic destinations worldwide.
