Historic York

York is one of the most impressive medieval cities in Europe, with the magnificent Minster as its centrepiece. This iconic place of worship, the largest medieval Gothic cathedral north of the Alps and a treasure trove of stained glass, has towered benevolently over York’s narrow streets for 800 years. The fascinating history of the city, from the Romans to the Industrial Revolution, is also well documented in its many excellent museums, including the worldrenowned Jorvik Viking Centre and the National Railway Museum.

Bellinis and brunch are served on the outward journey. On arrival, you will be met by guides for a short coach transfer and a walking of the major city attractions, with a visit to York Minster. After the tour there will be some time to explore on your own – keen shoppers will appreciate the city’s many delightful and often unique boutiques. A glass of chilled champagne welcomes you back aboard the train for the return journey to London Victoria, followed by a sublime five-course dinner accompanied with a half bottle of fine wine and rounded off with a liqueur.
