Experience the best of Yorkshire on this outstanding two-centre holiday, with stays in the historic centres of Harrogate, once famed for its medicinal spa waters, and York, with an enthralling heritage dating back to Roman times, along with an exploration of the breathtaking beautiful Yorkshire Dales and the impossibly grand Castle Howard, setting for the much-loved 1981 TV adaptation of Brideshead Revisited.
We bid farewell to Harrogate as we depart for York. We make a stop at Harewood House, the home of the Earl and Countess of Harewood. The house is one of the most treasured in England and was built in the mid-18th century. There are contemporary art exhibits here, as well as gardens overseen by the award winning ‘Professional Gardener of the Year’.
This afternoon we have free time in Wetherby, the thriving market town in the heart of Yorkshire before reaching the Best Western Monkbar Hotel in the centre of York. You will be welcomed with a cup of tea/coffee and homemade shortbread. Dinner is served at our hotel this evening.
