Many wealthy Americans have chosen California as a place to live and for good reason. Not only does it have one of the best year-round climates in the world, California along with its neighbouring western states of Nevada and Arizona, also have an electric mix of stunning natural wonders; such as the fabled 17 Mile Drive and the sinuously winding cliffside road around Big Sur, the wonder of Yosemite National Park, home to the giant Redwood trees and the awe inspiring sight of the Grand Canyon, and exciting cities such as Los Angeles, home to Hollywood, San Francisco and the 24 hour city of Las Vegas. Discover the Golden State with California tours

From sun-kissed beaches and spectacular coastlines, through to snow-capped mountains, dazzling cities and an effervescent culture, there's so much to see and do on California holidays that it can be difficult to know where to begin.

At Titan, we offer a variety of touring holidays that will help you experience as much as possible during California holidays.

During these great journeys, you'll have the chance to enjoy breathtaking scenery, interact with locals, and delight in the fresh cuisine and delicious wines. In addition, there will be plenty of opportunities to learn about the history of the state.

Northern California

One must-see destination in California is San Francisco. This eclectic and truly beautiful 'City by the Bay' offers something for everyone - from independent bookshops, art museums, operas and ballets, through to fine dining, spectacular views, historic landmarks and plenty of outdoor activities.

Walk or cycle across the Golden Gate Bridge, explore eerie Alcatraz, ride on a cable car, zigzag down Lombard street or enjoy a bowl of steaming hot clam chowder and sourdough bread while watching the sea lions on Pier 39 or Fisherman's Wharf. Of course, there's also China Town, Little Italy, the Cable Cars, Ghirardelli Square and the Palace of Fine Arts.

A stroll along the shore to Golden Gate Park is a great way to spend the day, giving you the chance to soak up some sunshine or witness the city's famous blankets of fog rolling in or out in great billowing waves. Meanwhile, Baker Beach on the western side of the city offers some of the best views and golden sand.

The Central Region

In central California, you'll find some truly beautiful natural scenery. The Big Sur Coast, with winding roads, gravity-defying bridges and astonishingly steep cliffs is a region with a magical and beguiling atmosphere.

Meanwhile, those travelling along the eastern side of the state will find Yosemite National Park. The amazing spectacles of nature found in Yosemite, such as the towering granite features of Half Dome and El Capitan, have been formed over millennia by the combination of volcanic activity, glacial movement and erosion.

As well as the geological features and picturesque views that Yosemite has to offer, it's also a popular place for outdoor activities like hiking, camping, rock climbing and cycling, and winter activities such as skiing and snowshoeing.

In addition, those who love to spot wildlife should keep their eyes open for creatures such as black bears, marmots, mule deer, bobcats, cougars, spotted owls and Stellers' jays.

Southern California

In the southern part of California, the most popular destination is the sprawling expanse of Greater Los Angeles. Comprising five counties, including Orange county and Riverside, the area's population is estimated at more than 12.9 million.

There's plenty to do in the Los Angeles area, from spotting names on the Walk of Stars in Hollywood, to experiencing the colourful spectacle that is Venice Beach.

You could also spend some time at one of the region's many amusement parks, including Disneyland, California Adventure, Universal Studios, Knott's Berry Farm and Magic Mountain.

If you're looking for some retail therapy, a shopping trip on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills could be the ideal excursion during your touring holiday, while a night out on the Sunset Strip could be a good opportunity for fine dining and celeb-spotting when you visit Tinsel Town.

Further afield: Arizona and Nevada

For those who'd like to see other parts of the USA during California holidays in 2012, Titan offers a variety of options that you're sure to love.

Why not opt for a trip that includes a stay in Las Vegas? Enjoy the bright lights and spectacular buildings of the 'Entertainment Capital of the World', try your luck at a blackjack table or slot machine, see a show, do some shopping and eat your fill at a world-famous casino buffet.

You could also travel to Arizona to see the Grand Canyon or get your kicks by taking a tour of the iconic Route 66.
