Legend tells us that Aphrodite, Goddess of Love, was born on a shell by the gentle west wind to the island of Cyprus, which she made her home. Travellers to the Mediterranean’s third largest island remain enchanted to this day, by its fine blend of classical archaeological sites, timeless country villages, delightful mountain scenery and endless golden beaches.

This leisurely paced new tour encompasses the romantic appeal of Kyrenia harbour and the majestic Troodos Mountains, the mosaics and monasteries of Paphos, the beautiful UNESCO-listed painted church of Agios Nikolaos tis Stegis, the fascinating ‘divided city’ of Nicosia and much more.

    Troodos Mountains

This region is unique, being home to one of the most extensive selections of churches and monasteries dating back to the Byzantine Empire. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ayios Nikolaos tis Stegis, one of the most highly prized painted churches on the island. Explore Kykko Monastery, which shelters many important holy relics including the icon of the Virgin Mary painted by St. Luke.
Witness Mount Olympus, the highest point on the island, where you can see the majestic ‘pinus nigra’ (black pine) trees that only grow above 3,937 feet.

    Nicosia

Discover the Cathedral of St. John and the Byzantine Museum with its unique collection of icons, or marvell at the Venetian walls surrounding the old part of the city. You are also free to explore the Archaeological Museum, with its collection of Cypriot antiquities and art treasures from the Neolithic Era till Byzantine times.
