Fast growing in popularity as a holiday destination, now is the perfect time to discover the Mediterranean paradise of Croatia. Its coastline is one of the most attractive in the world – ruggedly beautiful beaches overlooking more than 1,000 gem-like islands set in the waters of the Adriatic, which change from ultramarine to azure as they approach the shore. This outstanding highlights tour takes in the grand capital city, Zagreb, the stunning Plitvice Lakes and the royal resort town of Sibenik, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and includes a visit to the majestic, walled city of Dubrovnik and many meals and city tours.
Leaving Zadar, we continue our journey south this morning for a visit to the characteristic town of Sibenik, which was built by the Croatian Kings. We delve into its maze of winding streets and enter the cathedral. Built in the 15th century and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the cathedral is an elaborate mix of styles, including its dome thatwas inspired by Brunelleschi’s in Florence. We arrive early evening at our hotel the 5* Hotel President Solin, 6km from Split.
