Bulgaria Holidays

Europe 2nd Edition 2013 brochure cover Order Our Escorted Holidays Europe Brochure

Fully emerged from behind the Iron Curtain, the Black Sea country of Bulgaria is set to become one of the hottest destinations in European travel.

Amongst its myriad holiday highlights are historical towns and idyllic rural villages, the National Revival architectural treasures and Roman ruins of Plovdiv, the spiritual and beautiful Rila Monastery and fragrant Rose Valley, where most of the continent’s rose oil is distilled. But perhaps the jewel in Bulgaria’s crown is the capital, Sofia, where the extravagant neo-Byzantine Alexander Nevski Cathedral shares the skyline with Ottoman mosques, Red Army monuments, fashionable boutiques and enthralling museums.

Holiday in Bulgaria

Kazanlak - Shipka village

Visit the Rose Valley, so called because the attractive town of Kazanlak is a famous producer of rose oil. Here you will also see the Thracian tombs that reveal the ways of life of this ancient civilisation. In the nearby village of Shipka discover the Russian Church, an architectural masterpiece.

Plovdiv

One of the most famous monuments in the Old Town is the Ancient Theatre but Plovdiv also offers beautiful parks for the visitor to enjoy. A short distance from Plovdiv lies one of the oldest monasteries in Bulgaria, set in the beautiful Chepelare river valley. In the Monastery’s museum you will find a collection coins, jewellery and valuable manuscripts.
