The southern county of Hampshire is home to stunning areas of natural beauty, long stretches of coast and a number of historical towns and cities, including England’s ancient capital, Winchester. Enjoy all the festivities of a Christmas break at our hotel in the centre of Winchester. The city has many celebrated visitors and residents including John Keats, Jane Austen, St Swithun and Alfred the Great, and we have included a tour of Winchester to follow in their footsteps and visit its splendid Gothic Cathedral, plus a trip to Milestones Museum, where the past is brought back to life.
4 nights in hotel (accommodation as specified or similar)
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to Winchester and the Winchester Royal Hotel (4T). We aim for you to arrive at the hotel between 4pm and 5pm. We are welcomed with tea, coffee and mince pies, followed by time to relax before dinner this evening.
Day 2 Christmas Eve - Winchester
We travel into rural Hampshire today to visit Whitchurch Silk Mill, the oldest silk mill in the UK still in its original building. Within the Georgian water mill, they still use 19th century machinery and traditional techniques to weave beautiful silks. We then take a walk through the old cobbled streets of Milestones Museum. Houses, factories and shops are full of objects made or used in Hampshire in the late 1800s and 1900s, including a gramophone shop playing favourite tunes from years gone by, plus vintage vehicles, a working pub and a Victorian showground. A light lunch is included in this excursion. We return to our hotel to begin our festive celebrations, with the option to attend Midnight Mass at a local church.
Day 3 Christmas Day - Winchester
This morning you will have time to relax, before partaking in a Christmas lunch. This afternoon is yours to spend as you wish, before a buffet dinner is served this evening.
Day 4 Boxing Day - Winchester
This morning we take a walking tour of Winchester. As England’s ancient capital, it is a city crammed with hidden treasures including the Great Hall - the only complete remnant of Winchester Castle and the greatest symbol of medieval mythology. We take in the city’s striking Cathedral, one of the largest in England, with a history that can be dated back over fifteen centuries. It is also the burial site of one of our greatest novelists - Jane Austen. A light lunch of soup and sandwiches is available at our hotel, and dinner later.
Day 5 Winchester
This morning we have time for breakfast, before bidding farewell. You will be collected at 10am by your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
