Day 1 London - New York
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to London Heathrow Airport and a direct, scheduled Virgin Atlantic flight to New York. On arrival, we transfer to the Renaissance New York Times Square (4T), where we stay for two nights.
Day 2 New York
This morning we embark on a tour of New York in the company of a local guide, taking in Central Park, the Rockefeller Center, the Empire State Building and other major landmarks. You are free to explore at leisure this afternoon, or you may join one of our optional excursions.
Day 3 New York - Albany
We travel north today, through the scenic Hudson Valley towards the state capital of New York, Albany. Our first stop is at the village of Sleepy Hollow, immortalised in Washington Irving’s short story, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, published in 1820. A local volunteer guide will take us on a tour of the cemetery, regaling us with tales of the Headless Horseman and Ichabod Crane. Moving on, we arrive at Hyde Park, an imposing mansion built during the ‘Gilded Age’ of the 1890s as a holiday home for the wealthy Vanderbilt family. We join a guided tour of the house, now listed as a National Historic Site, with free time to enjoy the extensive Italian-style gardens. Early this evening we arrive in Albany and check in to our hotel, the Hilton Albany (3T).
Day 4 Albany - North Conway
Leaving New York State this morning, we journey through the beautiful Vermont countryside, stopping for lunch in the charming little town of Woodstock. This afternoon our route takes us through the scenic Lakes Region of New Hampshire to the village of North Conway, arriving at our hotel for the next two nights, the Hampton Inn & Suites (3T) this evening.
Day 5 White Mountains
We enjoy a scenic drive along the Kancamagus Highway, travelling through the spectacular scenery of the White Mountains. There will be free time for lunch in Littleton, where you might like to pay a visit to the statue of Pollyanna, the ever-cheerful fictional character created by former resident Eleanor H Porter. We continue through the heart of the White Mountains National Forest this afternoon, passing Mount Washington, the highest peak in the northeastern United States. Return to North Conway this afternoon, with time to explore this historic village by yourself or to visit the nearby outlet malls.
Day 6 North Conway - Boston
Driving south through New Hampshire we arrive in Boston late this morning. We will visit the city’s famous Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall and this afternoon, a local guide will take us on a tour of Boston’s highlights. Our hotel for the next two nights is the Marriott Copley Place (4T).
Day 7 Boston
Today is free for you to independently explore the great sights of Boston. The city’s atmosphere, spectacular architecture, mouth-watering cuisine and innovative art make discovering easy; highlights include the Freedom Trial - an incredible 2.5 mile walk encompassing sites of historic significance - and Boston Common, the city’s beautiful public park.
Day 8 Boston - Plymouth - Newport
This morning we journey from Boston to Plymouth. Leisurely explore this lovely coastal town - the initial settlement of the Pilgrims in 1620, or join an optional excursion that takes you on a trip back in time with a visit to the Plimoth Plantation, a living history museum on the site of the original Plymouth Colony. Walk through the recreated village and learn about early colonial life from the costumed guides. See the Pilgrim Hall Museum, which exhibits original objects used by the Pilgrims and their Wampanoag neighbours. This afternoon we resume our journey onwards to Newport, Rhode Island, where we check in to our hotel for the next two nights, Newport Marriott (4T).
Day 9 Newport
We wake in charming Newport this morning. Known as America’s first resort, this colonial coastal town is full of history, culture and art, as well as being in an enviable position with miles of unspoiled beaches and scenic trails nearby. While here we embark on a journey along Newport’s Ten Mile Drive; an unforgettable journey travelling along the beautiful southern coast dotted with scenic views and 17th century buildings, including lavish mansions with exquisite, perfectly-landscaped gardens. We’ll visit one of these - The Breakers - one of Newport’s grandest mansions built as a summer residence for wealthy Cornelius Vanderbilt II.
Day 10 Newport - Mystic Seaport - New York - In flight
We leave Rhode Island and head back to New York, stopping en route at Mystic Seaport - The Museum of America and the Sea. The largest maritime museum in the USA, Mystic Seaport hosts a wonderful collection of sailing ships and more than 60 historic buildings - a great insight into maritime life and history in the USA. Later we continue to New York’s JFK Airport for our direct, scheduled Virgin Atlantic flight back to London.
Day 11 London
Arrival at London Heathrow Airport where you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
