Day 1 - London Tilbury
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your journey to London Tilbury, where our staff will greet you and assist with embarking Aegean Odyssey (4T) in preparation for a late afternoon sailing.
Day 2 - 3 - Rouen, France (overnight)
We spend the day cruising along the River Seine arriving in Rouen this evening, where we dock overnight. The following day you will have the choice of a day trip to Paris, where the many sights include the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre and of course, the Eiffel Tower, or you may spend the day at the Palace of Versailles, one of the largest and most ostentatious Royal residences in the world, with gardens covering some 230 acres and a French Baroque style that is a crowning achievement of 17th century art.
Day 4 - Honfleur
Honfleur has long attracted poets, artists and painters. Today we enjoy a walking tour, roaming the narrow streets lined with timber-framed houses and discovering sites of great heritage including the 15th century St Catherine’s Church, France’s largest timber-built church. Highlights of the tour include the Salt Warehouse, the Lieutenancy - the former residence of the city governor - and the picturesque Old Port, home to colourful old townhouses, local fishing boats and pretty quaysides.
Day 5 - At sea
A day spent relaxing at sea on board Aegean Odyssey.
Day 6 - Nantes
After sailing along the Loire into Chateaux Country, we arrive this morning in Nantes. Enjoy a half day excursion exploring the highlights of this city dating back to the 2nd century BC - one of the largest in France it has a thriving cultural and artistic scene. Our exciting tour visits St Pierre Cathedral, a remarkable piece of flamboyant Gothic architecture and home to the tomb of Duke François II; the beautiful Castle of the Dukes of Brittany; and the historic buildings of the area formerly known as Feydeau Island. We later enjoy a scenic drive to Jardin des Plantes, botanical gardens featuring beautiful lakes, waterfalls, a rose garden, medicinal herb garden and an alpine garden.
Day 7 - 8 - Bordeaux (overnight)
We cruise along the Gironde River, Western Europe’s largest estuary, to Bordeaux, where we dock overnight. Whilst here, choose from two excursions - perhaps enjoy a tour focussing on the UNESCO-listed sights of Bordeaux, including a drive along the picturesque riverfront where much of the region’s famous wine trading takes place, before a panoramic walking tour of the city’s grand architecture. Or, enjoy a panoramic tour and wine tasting in Bordeaux including visits to prestigious wine estates, where we learn of the process of wine making, explore their fascinating cellars and enjoy a mouthwatering taste of their renowned produce.
Day 9 - San Sebastián, Spain
Arrive in Spain’s wonderful coastal city of San Sebastián to explore the historic Parte Vieja district, or take a walk along the famous La Concha Promenade, so named for its long shell-like curve, where the iconic Mirimar Palace and Perla Spa are just some of the sights.
Day 10 - At sea
Enjoy leisurely time on board as Aegean Odyssey sails to our next destination.
Day 11 - La Coruña
Choose to join an excursion exploring the city itself, including the impressive Town Hall in the Plaza Maria Pita and historical monuments in the oldest region of the city, before a scenic drive along the waterfront. Complete the tour in the Tower of Hercules, a Roman Lighthouse situated 185 feet above ground with around 1,900 years’ worth of history. Alternatively, you can spend your time discovering Santiago de Compostela, the pilgrimage city of Catholic significance, where St James the Great is said to be buried.
Day 12 - Porto, Portugal
Porto is one of Portugal’s most significant cities and one of the oldest European centres. Today we enjoy a tour of the impressive town centre, an historic reminder of life in the 18th century when trade was thriving and the avenues, large squares, picturesque homes, medieval streets and stunning palaces - many of which still remain today - were bustling with life. Visit the beautiful Romanesque Cathedral and UNESCO-listed Stock Exchange Palace, the economic and commercial heart of the city constructed during the 19th century to impress European investors. Cross the Douro River by way of the unique double-decker Dom Luis Bridge to Gaia to visit a well-known wine cellar for a tasting of the port wine.
Day 13 Lisbon
We disembark and transfer to our hotel in Lisbon for two nights. The remainder of the morning includes a guided tour, taking in the historic Belém Quarter, from where the caravels set sail on their voyage to the New World during the Portuguese Age of Discovery. Belém Tower not only played a key role in historic maritime discoveries but also worked as a defence system from the banks of the Tagus River. Other highlights of the tour include the amazing Alfama Quarter and Rossio Square.
Day 14 Lisbon
A day at leisure to take in more of the wonderful historic sights of Lisbon at our own pace, or join an optional excursion to the city of Queluz, the picturesque village of Sintra and the quaint fishing village of Cascais.
Day 15 Lisbon - London
After breakfast, transfer to Lisbon Airport for a scheduled leading airline flight to London Heathrow or Gatwick Airport. Upon arrival you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
