Day 1 - London - Budapest
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to London Heathrow Airport and a direct, scheduled British Airways or another leading airline flight to Budapest. On arrival we transfer to the river and embark our vessel, Filia Rheni II (4T). This evening the Captain and crew formally greet you at the Captain’s welcome dinner.
Day 2 - Budapest
Divided into two parts separated by the river, both ‘Buda’ and ‘Pest’ are packed with interest. Of particular note is the Parliament Building on the Pest side, much photographed as it reflects in the river, and the Castle District on the Buda side that provides wonderful historical interest and commanding views. We have arranged for an included morning excursion of Budapest to provide an introduction to this fascinating city, with the rest of the day free for independent exploration.
Day 3 - Budapest - Danube Bend - Esztergom
Early this morning we depart for our first cruising highlight as we navigate the spectacular Danube Bend, where the river turns and twists sharply below forested hills and pretty riverside towns. Later this morning we reach Esztergom, where you can explore the town independently; and a visit to the immense neo-classical basilica that towers over the city skyline is recommended. It is the largest in Hungary and contains the world’s largest alter-piece.
Day 4 - Bratislava
We spend the morning on the river as we cross the border into Slovakia, arriving in Bratislava at lunchtime. This afternoon you can join an optional coach and walking tour excursion of the city, including the lovingly-restored Old Town and the imposing Bratislava Castle (Hrad), which towers over the city. We sail early evening.
Day 5 - Linz
A day to relax on board and enjoy the pleasure of river cruising. Later this afternoon we reach the elegant city of Linz, boasting many historic buildings and a charming Old Town.
Day 6 - Passau
A full day in Passau, known as the ‘City of Three Rivers’ being the confluence of the rivers Danube, Inn and Ilz. An included guided walking tour introduces you to the town, with its cobblestone streets and St Stephan’s Cathedral, home to the world’s largest cathedral organ. Set sail for Vienna late afternoon.
Day 7 - Melk - Wachau Valley cruising - Dürnstein
This morning we arrive in the sleepy town of Melk, dominated by its imposing Benedictine abbey, which we will visit as an included excursion. We then cruise through Austria’s scenic UNESCO-listed Wachau Valley, a particularly pretty stretch of river and well worth some photographs as the view unfolds around each bend. This afternoon you may choose to take an optional orientation tour of the attractive town of Dürnstein; or alternatively explore independently. Tonight, enjoy the Captain’s farewell gala dinner onboard.
Day 8 Vienna - London
This morning we bid farewell to Filia Rheni II and her crew, and transfer to Vienna Airport for a direct, scheduled British Airways or another leading airline flight to London Heathrow. On arrival you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
