Western Norway is a treasure trove of natural wonders - millions of years of glacial activity has created a uniquely spectacular coastline intricately carved by thousands of the world’s deepest, narrowest and most beautiful fjords, penetrating far into the country’s mountainous, snow-swept interior. A splendid cruise ship such as Braemar presents the perfect vantage point for admiring these awe-inspiring miracles of nature, with their dramatic sheer cliffs and plunging waterfalls, affording time both to unwind and to explore delightful ports of call such as Bergen.
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to Southampton, where our staff will greet you and assist with embarking Braemar (3T+) in readiness for a late afternoon sailing.
Day 2 - At sea
A day at sea provides the perfect way to settle into onboard life. The social programme offers a choice of craft classes, concerts, films and lectures that provide fascinating insights into the ports of call that lie ahead.
Day 3 - Cruising Lysefjord, Preikestolen, Kjerag and Karmsundet
Enjoy a day of scenic cruising as we sail past the stunning Lysefjord, surrounded by some of the most incredible scenery, including the Preikestolen - a 604 metre flat mountain plateau, and Kjeragbolten (Pulpit Rock) - a large rock intriguingly wedged high in a mountain crevice. Continue along Karmsundet, a narrow channel between Karmoey Island and Haugesund.
Day 4 - Eidfjord - Cruising Hardangerfjord, Marurangerfjord and Furebergfossen
Perched on the edge of a fjord, with a backdrop of soaring mountains, is the peaceful village of Eidfjord. Some of the country’s finest fjord scenery is here, and the country’s best-known waterfall, Voringsfoss, is just an excursion away. Our cruise continues along the incredible Hardangerfjord and Maurangerfjord, with more breathtaking views including the pretty Furebergfossen Waterfall.
Day 5 - Cruising Nærøyfjord, Sognefjord and Lustrafjord - Skjolden
Enjoy the dramatic views of snow-topped mountains, waterfalls and charming traditional farms clinging to the vast hillsides, as Braemar is skilfully guided through Nærøyfjord, just 500m wide at its narrowest point. We continue along the magnificent Sognefjord, one of the world’s longest fjords, and Lustrafjord, lined with glorious glaciers, magnificent mountains and charming villages. We dock in Skjolden, overlooked by Northern Europe’s highest mountain - Jotunheimen, and Jostedalsbreen, the biggest glacier on mainland Europe. One of Norway’s most famous landmarks is here - Urnes Stave Church - the oldest in Norway.
Day 6 - Bergen
Early morning arrival in the ‘City of the Seven Hills’, where you can join an optional shore excursion by coach that illustrates the dramatic change in way of life that the local population have experienced during the last century, as it tours through the beautiful outskirts of Bergen in the fjord, lake and coastal districts. Whilst here, you may also like to explore the attractive renovated waterfront area with its colourful mix of cobbled streets, charming houses from the Hanseatic period, colonnaded shops and the fascinating fish market. We sail this afternoon.
Day 7 - Cruising Hidrasund, Strandsfjorden, Flekkefjorden, Listafjorden and Rosfjorden
Take advantage of more great photo opportunities today as we cruise past craggy islands, Hidrasund - home to rare fauna, and the pretty fishing island of Flekkefjord. Sail amongst the jagged cliffs and snow-topped hills that line Fedafjorden and Listafjorden, and on the glassy waters of Rosfjorden.
Day 8 - At sea
Take in a show this evening or enjoy a drink in the piano lounge.
