Day 1 - London - Budapest
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to London Heathrow Airport for a direct, scheduled British Airways flight to Budapest. Upon arrival you will be met by your AmaWaterways representative and transferred to the port to embark your ship, the AmaStella (5T) or AmaViola (5T).
Day 2 - Budapest
An included sightseeing tour of Budapest this morning will introduce you to the highlights of this historic city, including Buda Castle, where you will enjoy a splendid view of the twin cities of Buda and Pest. Your tour also visits Fisherman’s Bastion, the grand Parliament Building, which was modelled on the Palace of Westminster; St Stephen’s Basilica, Heroes’ Square and more. The afternoon is free to explore at your own pace.
Day 3 - Bratislava - Vienna
This morning you’ll wake up in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, where you have a choice of two tours. Your first option is a walking tour of the city’s top sights, including the Old Town Hall, rococo Mirbach Palace and Gothic St Martin’s Cathedral. Alternatively, you could join the ‘Communist History’ tour, visiting landmarks such as the striking Radio Building, shaped like an inverted pyramid, Liberty Square and the Soviet War Memorial. Later, you will have some free time before the ship sails on to the beautiful Austrian capital, Vienna. After dinner, experience a traditional ‘Viennese Wine and Music’ evening in a tavern outside the city, where you can enjoy a glass or two of the local vintage in a friendly and convivial atmosphere.
Day 4 - Vienna
After breakfast, join the guided tour of this captivating city, which takes in the State Opera House, the magnificent St Stephen’s Cathedral and the majestic Hofburg Palace, once home to the Habsburg emperors. This afternoon you are free to enjoy Vienna at leisure, perhaps stopping at a traditional Viennese coffeehouse to sample the famously delicious pastries. Otherwise, you could join an optional excursion to Schönbrunn Palace and gardens, a glorious example of Baroque architecture. Tonight, you may choose to round off your visit to Vienna by attending an optional Mozart and Strauss concert.
Day 5 - Weissenkirchen - Emmersdorf - Grein
We arrive in the village of Weissenkirchen this morning, from where you will depart for a walking tour through Dürnstein, one of the prettiest towns along the Danube. You’ll see the delightful powder-blue bell-tower of the local Stiftskirche (abbey church) and the ruins of the hilltop castle where Richard the Lionheart was once held for ransom. Return to the ship and continue cruising onwards through the gorgeous scenery of the Wachau Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This afternoon we arrive in Melk, renowned for its spectacular Benedictine abbey, and you will learn about its history and treasures on a guided tour. Tonight the ship arrives in Grein, where you have some free time to explore this charming little town, watched over by its medieval castle.
Day 6 - Linz
Our ship arrives in Linz, Austria’s third-largest city, this morning and after an included walking tour you will have a choice of three different excursions, all to UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The first option is a tour of the scenic Salzkammergut region, or Austrian Lake District, while your second option is an excursion to Salzburg, birthplace of Mozart and the setting for ‘The Sound of Music’, with a walking tour of the historic centre. Alternatively you could opt to cross the border into the Czech Republic for an excursion to the wonderfully preserved medieval town of Cesky Krumlov on the banks of the River Vltava, home to a particularly impressive castle.
Day 7 - Passau - Vilshofen
Early this morning, our ship cruises through Upper Austria to the German city of Passau, on the confluence of the rivers Danube, Inn and Ilz, and known as the Dreiflüssestadt (Three Rivers City). Today’s walking tour will take you around Passau’s Old Town, including a visit to the Baroque St Stephan’s Cathedral, home to the largest church organ in the world. This afternoon, the ship cruises to the small town of Vilshofen, where you will enjoy an evening of traditional Bavarian folk music and dancing.
Day 8 Vilshofen - Munich - London
After breakfast we disembark our ship and transfer to Munich Airport for a direct, scheduled British Airways flight to London Heathrow Airport, where you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle for the journey home.
