Day 1 London - Verona - Bardolino, Lake Garda
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to London Gatwick Airport and your direct, scheduled British Airways flight to Verona. On arrival, we make the short transfer to Bardolino and our hotel for the next three nights, the Hotel Caesius Thermae Resort & Spa (4T), located opposite beautiful Lake Garda. We enjoy an included dinner at the hotel tonight.
Day 2 Isola del Garda
We take a boat across Lake Garda to the small, rocky, privately owned island of Isola del Garda, home to a magnificent Venetian Gothic villa with beautiful rooms and formal gardens. Explore the old battlements and the lush nature park, see the crumbling hermitage and go in search of the 130 Gallic-Roman tombstones on the island.
Day 3 Sirmione
We travel to the southern banks of Lake Garda to explore Sirmione, a beautiful peninsula that has been inhabited since the Stone Age. Wealthy Romans holidayed here to enjoy the natural springs and the impressive three-storey Roman villa, Grotto of Catullus, still dominates the tip of the peninsula, despite the wear of time; while the magnificent Scaligera Fortress is a reminder of the serious side of medieval life. Return to Bardolino for an afternoon at leisure, and maybe a stroll along the picturesque shore.
Day 4 - Bardolino - Verona - Venice
After breakfast, we depart the hotel for the short drive to the elegant city of Verona, forever associated with William Shakespeare, where we make a stop. Continue to Venice to embark Azamara Quest® (5T) and settle in before we begin our cruise; the experience of sailing out of Venice, passing St Mark’s Square, is truly memorable.
Day 5 - Zadar, Croatia - Inside Passage
Zadar is a truly captivating city, where history-drenched cobblestone streets meet deep blue sea and green olive groves. Spend your day meandering through the old town, rich in ancient monuments, and listening to the wonderful tones of The Sea Organ, a masterpiece of nature and architecture on Zadar’s shores. Or take an excursion to Krka National Park, a beautiful, diverse land of lakes, magnificent waterfalls and caverns that support a wide variety of fauna, marsh birds, birds of prey and bats. Early this evening, we begin our voyage through Croatia’s inside passage, passing numerous islands which decorate the water.
Day 6 - Hvar
Today we visit one of Croatia’s largest and most popular islands - Hvar. The island’s capital, Hvar Town, exudes wealth with elegant hotels and restaurants welcoming guests from their extravagant yachts. The fortress and Benedictine convent provide an interesting insight into the island’s history and lace-making traditions. Much of the rest of the island is rural, with fields of lavender and ancient hamlets, long abandoned. Ship to shore tender service.
Day 7 - Kotor, Montenegro
Sail through the Bay of Kotor, a stunning ria whose mountainous restraints become increasingly imposing as we navigate our way to Kotor. On arrival in Montenegro’s beautiful town, take a stroll along its cobblestone streets, interlaced in a bid to confuse the unwanted pirates and soldiers who explored them before you. Within the thick city walls, up to 10m wide, lie churches and eateries selling fresh delicacies on hidden piazzas.
Day 8 - Dubrovnik, Croatia
Dubrovnik has been carefully restored after the Croatian conflicts, just 25 years ago, and is once more a magnificent medieval city, full of squares decorated with monuments and fountains, churches and quaint shops selling local art and crafts. Walk atop the thick medieval walls for fantastic views across the city, or delve into museums to take a closer look at the city’s turbulent past. Ship to shore tender service.
Day 9 - Korcula
Legend has it the enchanting port of Korcula was founded by a Trojan hero in 12th century BC. It is also believed that the great adventurer, Marco Polo, was born in the house that now bears his name and is open to visitors. The town (which shares its name with the island) is still very much a market town, with a small museum conserving a mix of island history, from items found from the bottom of the sea to the Nazi occupation. You may like to explore further into this forested island, or take a water taxi to Badija to discover the 15th century Franciscan monastery. Ship to shore tender service.
Day 10 - Koper, Slovenia
Beautiful Tito Square (Titov Trg), in the heart of Koper’s Old Town, is an ideal starting point today. Explore the arcaded Venetian Gothia Loggia, the gleaming white 15th century Praetorian Palace, Armoury, 12th century baptistery and climb 204 steps up the belfry of the Cathedral of the Assumption for wonderful views. Alternatively, take this opportunity to explore Slovenia’s beautiful capital, Ljubljana, or the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Skocjan Caves, the world’s largest underground canyon. Then, enjoy an AzAmazing EveningSM choir performance at Tito Square.
Day 11 - Venice, Italy (overnight)
Early this morning we are greeted with the wonderful sight of Venice, as we return to explore the city of a hundred enchanting islands. Experience the famous statues, domes, and spectacular bell tower of St Mark’s Square. Marvel at the palaces of the aristocracy of old, the handsome Gothic palazzo, the buildings that line the waterways and the bridges which cross them. See antique art and discover the vibrant contemporary art scene. Spending the evening in port, lovers of performing arts may like to find tickets for an opera or ballet.
Day 12 Venice - London
We disembark Azamara Quest® after breakfast and transfer to the airport for a direct, scheduled British Airways flight to London Gatwick Airport. On arrival you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
