Day 2 - Falmouth
Enjoy a day in the quintessentially English port town of Falmouth, famous for the smugglers and pirates that took advantage of the world’s third largest natural harbour and the network of creeks. The miles of beautiful sandy beaches and pretty promenade offer a wonderful walk on a crisp December day, and The Poly will help you get into the Christmas spirit with a fair full of stalls selling handcrafted gifts. Alternatively, take an excursion to see one of Cornwall’s highlights. The Eden Project has its own unique way of embracing the festive season and offers ice skating opportunities.
Day 3 - Dublin
Dublin embraces the Christmas fairs with a touch of Irish humour. Unique gifts can be found in several markets. The Custom House Quarter hosts a traditional market around an impressive tree, and St Stephen’s Green is a beautiful location for an artisan fair. The Dublin Docklands, halfway between port and city, and Fitzwilliam Square are also popular destinations for traditional Christmas Markets. With an abundance of attractions including museums and famous locations that highlight the city’s long past, and contemporary architecture and modern art galleries that embrace the present, there are plenty of ways to spend your day. Dublin Castle seizes the festive spirit with refinement and the Temple Bar district will be full of Christmas cheer.
Day 4 - Cobh (for Cork)
Cobh has a dramatic history - millions of Irish people emigrated through Cobh during the potato famines, convict ships departed from here for Australia and the ill-fated Titanic called here on her maiden voyage. Learn more about this port town at the Heritage Centre, or choose an excursion to Cork, Ireland’s second city, to find historic buildings draped in sparkling Christmas lights. Cork has much to offer - take a tour and sample whiskey at the Old Jameson Distillery, or head to Bishop Lucey Park to experience the wonder of Tir na Nollag, find award winning jams and chutneys in the Artisan Food Markets, take a ride on a vintage carousel and wander the web of narrow streets for shops and snug pubs. Excursions may also include Blarney Castle, home to the famous Blarney Stone.
Day 5 - At sea
A day to relax and enjoy Balmoral’s hospitality as she returns to England.
