Day 1 - Folkestone - Calais - Cologne
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your journey to The Grand Hotel, Folkestone, where you will be greeted by Titan staff and meet your fellow travellers. We board our coach for the journey by ferry from Folkestone to Calais, and onward transfer to Cologne. Embark MS Bellejour (4T) and our cruise begins as we settle in to our cabins, before dinner.
Day 2 - Nijmegen - Arnhem
Nijmegen is a city with a collection of historic buildings and remnants that stem from life as a Roman military camp, interspersed with modern architecture and buzzing with university life. Spend your morning exploring the modern structures, mixed with beautiful old buildings that are full of legends, or visit the Museum het Valkhof for an insight into the area’s Roman ancestry. Return to our vessel for lunch and set sail for Arnhem, arriving mid-afternoon and remaining overnight to allow time to explore the city famed for the battle in WWII, which was immortalised in the film ‘A Bridge Too Far’ and explained at the Battle of Arnhem Information Centre, situated at the foot of the historical bridge.
Day 3 - Arnhem - Dordrecht
We have a further morning to enjoy the lovely streets and insightful museums of Arnhem before our cruise continues towards the coast to Dordrecht, where we moor overnight.
Day 4 - Dordrecht - Kinderdijk - Rotterdam
With a mid-morning departure, choose a leisurely breakfast or a brisk walk around this historic city before setting sail to Kinderdijk - a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with a unique collection of 19 authentic windmills. On an optional excursion, the Museum Mill tells the story of life in the windmills, with the interior unchanged since its last inhabitant departed in the 1950s, and their part in a complex drainage system which managed the river’s level and kept the land from flooding. We leave these national icons late this afternoon to continue our journey to Rotterdam, where we dock overnight.
Day 5 - Rotterdam
We have arranged a tour of exhilarating Rotterdam for this morning - an easily walkable city, even though it is the second largest in the Netherlands. The devastating consequences of WWII left a near-blank canvas for the imaginations of engineers and there are a number of examples of experimental architecture, including the mind-blowing tilted cubic houses and a phenomenal indoor market. We also take a cruise of Europe’s busiest port; sailing amongst hundreds of ships you will also see incredible city sights including precariously perched De Rotterdam, one of Europe’s biggest buildings designed by the country's most celebrated architect, Rem Koolhaas. Our voyage continues this evening to Hoorn.
Day 6 - Hoorn - Amsterdam
After breakfast, we have an included walk of the beautiful city of Hoorn. In contrast to Rotterdam, Hoorn has retained an historical and international character developed from the prosperity of the powerful Dutch East India Company’s trade with Asia during the 17th and 18th centuries. The harbour that played a vital role during the Golden Age has changed in use but is still attractive with its landmark Hoofdtoren tower, a beautiful building that defended the harbour from 1531. We return to our vessel for lunch and start our final voyage to Amsterdam, where we dock for the next two nights.
Day 7 - Amsterdam
Our tour of Amsterdam introduces you to 800 years of history and culture. Learn of the city that began as a humble fishing village on the banks of Amstel and exploded alongside the great success of the Golden Age and diamond trade. We also take a memorable cruise on the canals that loop through the historical centre, passing some of the city’s impressive mansions and best known places. The rest of the day is yours to visit your choice of the world-renowned museums including Anne Frank House, Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum, holding over 8,000 works by masters including Rembrandt, Vermeer and Rubens.
Day 8 Amsterdam - Calais - Folkestone
After breakfast, we disembark MS Bellejour and board our waiting coaches to take us on the return journey to Calais and ferry crossing to Folkestone. Upon arrival at The Grand Hotel, you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
