Day 1 London - Seville, Spain
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your journey to London Heathrow or Gatwick Airport and a direct, scheduled British Airways or another leading airline flight to Seville. On arrival, you will be met by Voyages to Antiquity representatives and transferred to your hotel.
Day 2 Seville
We enjoy an excursion to the beautiful city of Cordoba today, once capital of the Moorish territory of Al-Andalus, visiting the eighth century Great Mosque, converted into a cathedral following the Reconquista and the Roman Bridge, constructed in the first century BC.
Day 3 - Seville (overnight)
We transfer to embark Aegean Odyssey (4T) today, docking overnight in Seville.
Day 4 - Cruising the Guadalquivir River - Cadiz (overnight)
Relax on board your ship today as we cruise along the Guadalquivir to the city of Cadiz, where we spend the night.
Day 5 - Cadiz
Choose between two included excursions today. On the first, you’ll explore Cadiz, taking in sights such as the harbour at La Caleta, the Old Town and the cathedral, while the second takes you to Jerez de la Frontera, to sample the sherries produced by Bodega Gonzalez Byass.
Day 6 - Malaga
This morning we have a choice of two tours. Enjoy a scenic drive around Malaga, with a visit to the wonderful Picasso Museum, or head inland to Granada, to explore the magical Alhambra, home of the Nasrid sultans, and the Generalife Palace, their summer residence.
Day 7 - Cartagena
You have a choice of tours in Cartagena, either a sightseeing tour by coach, stopping to visit the impressive Roman theatre and to sample an ‘Asiatico’ liqueur coffee - a local speciality - or one that involves a little more walking which also takes in the Roman Forum.
Day 8 - At sea
Relax on board your ship as we spend a leisurely day sailing the Mediterranean Sea.
Day 9 - Trapani, Sicily
This afternoon we arrive in the Sicilian port of Trapani, and head to the archaeological site of Segesta, a city founded in the fifth century BC by the native Elymian people. Explore the exceptionally well-preserved Doric temple and the Greek theatre, which still hosts performances in summer, while there are also ruins of a church, a mosque and a medieval castle.
Day 10 - Valletta, Malta
This morning, join a guided walk through Malta’s charming capital, Valetta, visiting the 16th century Grand Master’s Palace and the Baroque St John's Co-Cathedral. The tour continues to the small town of Mdina, where we stroll along the narrow medieval streets and call in at St Paul’s Cathedral.
Day 11 - Syracuse, Sicily
We are back in Sicily today, to enjoy a walking tour of the ancient city of Syracuse, discovering its outstanding collection of archaeological treasures, including the fifth century BC Greek theatre and the Roman amphitheatre. We will also visit the Latomie, a former stone quarry riddled with tunnels and caverns such as the ‘Ear of Dionysus’ known for its remarkable echo.
Day 12 - Taormina
You have the option of two separate tours today. The walking tour of Taormina introduces you to the highlights of this beautiful city, including the Greek theatre, with its stunning view over the sea. Alternatively, head inland to the wild Peloritani Mountains and the little village of Savoca, where scenes from Francis Ford Coppola’s ‘The Godfather’ were filmed. Ship to shore tender service.
Day 13 - Palermo (overnight)
We arrive in Palermo this morning, where we dock overnight. Today’s excursion takes us a short distance inland to the hill town of Monreale to visit the 12th century Cathedral. Considered the most beautiful Norman church in Italy, it is famous for its extensive Byzantine mosaics which cover much of the interior walls.
Day 14 - Palermo
Today we visit the Palatine Chapel inside Palermo’s impressive Norman Palace, commissioned by King Roger II in 1132. Covered in glittering mosaics, it is a masterful fusion of Latin, Byzantine and Arabic architectural design. We continue to the nearby church of San Giovanni degli Eremiti and Palermo Cathedral, which houses several royal tombs.
Day 15 - Sorrento, Italy (overnight)
We arrive in Sorrento this morning, where we will stay overnight. Two excursions are offered today. Walk through the streets of the Roman town of Pompeii, frozen in time when it was engulfed by ash from the eruption of Vesuvius in AD 79, or visit nearby Herculaneum, preserved under volcanic mud from the same eruption. Ship to shore tender service.
Day 16 - Sorrento
You have free time to enjoy the sights of Sorrento today, or you might like to take a boat trip to the lovely island of Capri. We leave Sorrento early this evening. Ship to shore tender service.
Day 17 Civitavecchia - Rome
This morning we disembark our ship at Civitavecchia and transfer to our hotel in Rome. Two excursions are available today: on the first, you’ll visit some of Rome’s most famous landmarks, including the Colosseum, the Forum and St Peter’s Basilica, while the second takes you into the ancient Catacombs before venturing into the Alban Hills.
Day 18 Rome
Today you are free to explore Rome at your own pace, or you might like to join one of our optional excursions, to the Vatican Museums or Tivoli and the Villa d’Este.
Day 19 Rome - London
Transfer to Rome Airport for a British Airways or another leading airline flight to London Heathrow or Gatwick Airport. Upon arrival you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
