Day 1 London - Athens, Greece
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home for your journey to London Heathrow or Gatwick Airport and a direct, scheduled British Airways or another leading airline flight to Athens. On arrival, you will be met by Voyages to Antiquity representatives and transferred to your hotel.
Day 2 Athens
This morning we take a guided tour to visit the Acropolis, site of the majestic Parthenon, commissioned by Pericles in the 5th century BC. While here we will also visit the Acropolis Museum.
Day 3 - Athens - Piraeus
There will be more time to explore the Greek capital independently before we transfer to Piraeus to embark Aegean Odyssey (4T) for an evening sailing.
Day 4 - Nafplio
This morning we arrive in Nafplio, from where there will be a choice of excursions. Visit the archaeological site of Mycenae, stronghold of King Agamemnon, or Epidaurus, with its wonderfully preserved 4th century BC theatre, famous for its exceptional acoustics. Ship to shore tender service.
Day 5 - Santorini, Greek Islands
Today we reach the beautiful island of Santorini, where we visit the picture-postcard village of Oia, with its whitewashed houses and blue-domed churches, the archaeological site of Akrotiri, which was buried under volcanic ash around 1625 BC, and Pyrgos, where we have lunch. Day 6 - Heraklion, Crete
We visit the extraordinary palace complex at Knossos, once the heart of the mysterious Minoan civilisation, and, according to legend, home of the bloodthirsty Minotaur. Later, we spend time in the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, which holds the world’s most important collection of ancient Minoan art.
Day 7 - Rhodes, Greek Islands
You have a choice of tours in Rhodes. On the first, explore the Old Town, visiting the medieval Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes and the Knights’ Hospital, now an archaeological museum. The second tour visits the Acropolis at Lindos with its Temple of Athena and Crusader fortifications.
Day 8 - Delos - Mykonos
This morning we pay a visit to Delos, legendary birthplace of Apollo and Artemis, exploring the ancient temples, columns and monuments of this archaeological treasure-trove. We then cross to neighbouring Mykonos, with free time to relax or explore at your own pace. Ship to shore tender service.
Day 9 - Patmos
The island of Patmos is closely associated with St John and we visit the cave where he is said to have written the Book of Revelation and the fortress-like Monastery of St John the Theologian in the village of Chora. Ship to shore tender service.
Day 10 - Kavala, Greece
The city of Kavala in northern Greece is our gateway to Philippi, founded by Philip II of Macedon in 336 BC. The extensive ruins include a Roman forum, public baths, a magnificent theatre, Byzantine churches and the supposed prison where St Paul was once held.
Day 11 - Thessalonica
Choose between two guided tours in Thessalonica today. The first takes in landmarks such as the Venetian White Tower, the Roman Arch of Galerius and the Church of Hagios Demetrios while the second concentrates on Thessalonica’s Byzantine past, visiting the Museum of Byzantine Culture and the eighth century Church of Hagia Sophia.
Day 12 - Volos
From Volos, we drive across the Plain of Thessaly to the awe-inspiring monasteries built atop the rock towers of Meteora. We visit the nunnery of Agios Stefanos, which houses an icon museum, and Varlaam Monastery, which is known for its 16th century frescoes and commanding views of the Pindus Range.
Day 13 - Skiathos, Greek Islands
Enjoy a day at leisure on the pretty island of Skiathos, where scenes from the hit musical ‘Mamma Mia’ were filmed. Relax on the sandy beaches, or visit the Evangelistria Monastery, which houses a small museum.
Day 14 Piraeus - Athens - London
Transfer to Athens Airport for a British Airways or another leading airline flight to London Heathrow or Gatwick Airport. Upon arrival you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle for the journey home.
