Day 1 - Dover
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to Dover, where our staff will greet you and assist with embarking Black Watch (3T+) in readiness for an evening sailing.
Day 2 - At sea
A day at sea to enjoy the facilities on board. Maybe take a dip in the pool or just relax with friends in one of the bars.
Day 3 - Kiel Canal Transit - Kiel, Germany
This morning we transit the Kiel Canal and dock in Kiel, a long established maritime city, during the world’s largest sailing event. Extensively rebuilt since the 1950s, Kiel has some impressive modern structures including the 107m tower of the Rathaus which provides spectacular views, and the Hindenburg Embankment alongside the waterfront which is very popular as a vantage point during Kiel Week. See the endless forest of masts along the banks or take to the streets to find comedians, clowns, magicians and acrobats enhancing the carnival atmosphere of this internationally famous Regatta.
Day 4 - Travemünde (Lübeck)
We arrive at Travemünde, a pleasant seaside resort with a well-preserved Old Town and an inviting sandy beach, at the mouth of the River Trave. In the harbour you can visit the Passat, a four-masted barque, built in 1911 and now a floating museum or you could head to nearby Lübeck, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its fine medieval architecture such as the imposing Holsten Gate and the Gothic St Mary’s Church. Lübeck is also famous for its marzipan, and there are plenty of shops where you can sample this sweet treat.
Day 5 - Kiel Canal transit - Hamburg (overnight)
Today, our vessel transits the Kiel Canal once more - the world’s busiest manmade waterway, which runs for 98km through Schleswig-Holstein, linking the Baltic with the North Sea. We arrive in the vibrant port city of Hamburg tonight, where we stay for two nights.
Day 6 - Hamburg (overnight)
We have a full day to explore Germany’s second-largest city. Located on the River Elbe, Hamburg was a leading member of the Hanseatic League and is a busy, cosmopolitan city with a rich history. The grand 19th century Town Hall, the Baroque St Michaelis Church and Miniatur Wunderland - the world’s biggest model railway system, are all worth a visit, or you may just want to relax in Hamburg’s ‘green heart’ - the attractive city-centre park known as Planten un Blomen.
Day 7 - Hamburg - cruising the River Elbe, River Weser - Bremen (overnight)
Leaving Hamburg this morning, we set sail on the River Elbe, passing historic towns and a number of little islands on the way. We join the River Weser in the afternoon, another of Germany’s major waterways, flanked by woodland, rolling hills and beaches, arriving in Bremen this evening, where we will spend the night.
Day 8 - Bremen
Black Watch is one of only a few cruise ships that can sail all the way along the river to the centre of Bremen, thanks to her smaller size and shallow draft. This beautiful Hanseatic city is home to some incredible Gothic architecture, including the 15th century Town Hall - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In contrast, Überseestadt - the former docklands - offers a completely different experience, with a selection of trendy bars, stylish cafés and fine restaurants to enjoy, as well as a beautiful harbour. We leave Bremen tonight.
Day 9 - At sea
Enjoy your final day at sea, as we sail back towards the UK, perhaps relaxing with a massage in the spa.
Day 10 Dover
We arrive back in Dover early this morning, where you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
