Day 1 - London - Hamburg
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to London Heathrow Airport and a direct, scheduled British Airways flight to Hamburg. On arrival, we transfer to the port to embark MS Katharina Von Bora (3T+) with time to settle in before dinner.
Day 2 - Hamburg
There is a lot to discover during our full day in Hamburg. Our guided tour takes in the city’s maritime past with its famous Warehouse District and the largest sea port in Germany. Considered Germany’s ‘gateway to the world’, you can find a diverse selection of international wares on the market stalls and shop counters. Its role in world trade over the last two centuries has secured its legacy as one of Germany’s wealthiest cities, and has ensured that the city continues a full and modern life amongst the numerous protected historical landmarks.
Day 3 - Lüneburg
We spend the morning in the Hanseatic town of Lüneburg, with the opportunity to explore independently or on an optional guided tour. This university town became prosperous in the Middle Ages for the salt which was mined here for over 1,000 years. Since its closure in 1980, small amounts of salt are still mined for ceremonial purposes and the important role of this ‘white gold’ is commemorated annually at the Sülfmeistertage festival. Lüneburg has retained its charming medieval character, with beautiful gabled buildings through the town centre and possibly the highest concentration of pubs in Germany. Our cruise continues while we enjoy lunch back on board.
Day 4 - Havelberg - Tangermünde
Wake on the shores of bishopric Havelberg, where you are free to explore or join an optional guided tour. A tour of the cathedral will reveal interesting details about this impressive building, and the grand finale will be a short organ recital which showcases the cathedral's acoustics. Over lunch on board, we cruise to Tangermünde, where we follow Prussian history on an included excursion, viewing numerous monuments that bore witness to the Old Town, still almost completely enclosed by a city wall.
Day 5 - Magdeburg
Our cruise continues early this morning to Magdeburg. As the state capital and former imperial residence, Magdeburg has been ravaged repeatedly by war. Each time the town was destructed, great care was taken in restoring its cultural heritage. On our included excursion today, we will stop briefly at the town hall to see the Guericke Fountain and the Old Market Square with its Golden Equestrian statue, before continuing our tour by coach to splendid Gründerzeit houses, the romantic Monastery of Our Lady and the striking Hundertwasser House. We will also visit the Cathedral of St Maurice and St Catherine.
Day 6 - Brandenburg - Potsdam
We continue our voyage to Brandenburg where, after lunch there will be an optional tour of the ‘Cradle of the Mark’, as Brandenburg an der Havel is often called, for being one of the primary constituencies of the Holy Roman Empire. The city has three medieval town centres, with numerous sights along the lovingly restored and maintained narrow streets, creating one of Germany’s most important medieval heritage sites. Appreciate how the city has developed around the intertwining branches of the river as we visit the Cathedral of St Peter and St Paul, the Old Town Hall and the parks. Our vessel continues to Potsdam this evening, where we dock overnight.
Day 7 - Potsdam
This morning we take an included guided tour of Potsdam including the charming gabled houses of the Dutch Quarter, a visit to the Russian Colony Alexandrowka, and a tour of the park at Cecilienhof Palace. Discover the significance of Glienicker Bridge and walk in the magnificent grounds of stunning Sanssouci Palace, commissioned by Frederick the Great to make use of the exceptional views. We remain in Potsdam overnight.
Day 8 Potsdam - Berlin - London
Disembark MS Katharina Von Bora and transfer to Berlin airport, for a direct, scheduled British Airways flight to London Heathrow. On arrival you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
