Day 1 - London - Düsseldorf - Cologne
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from your home, for your journey to London Heathrow or Gatwick Airport and your British Airways flight to Düsseldorf. On arrival, transfer to the port in Cologne and embark Royal Crown (4T) with time to settle in before dinner.
Day 2 - Cologne - Bonn
Enjoy a morning in Cologne, exploring a city whose roots dig 2,000 years into the past, when Romans founded Colonia. Spend some time tracing the city’s history, woven through the carefully restored Old Town. Museum Ludwig is a must-see for modern art enthusiasts. We return to our vessel for lunch and the first leg of our cruise, as we sail along the Rhine to Bonn. There is an optional tour available that takes you through the streets of this old capital city and includes entrance to Beethoven’s House. The birthplace of this musical genius has become a museum to his life and work.
Day 3 - Bonn - Koblenz
After a relaxing day on the river, we arrive in Koblenz, a national heirloom of charming German and French traditions, this evening.
Day 4 - Koblenz - Rüdesheim
This morning we take an included walking tour of historical Koblenz and Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. Europe's second-largest preserved fortress towers 120m over the Rhine and Moselle, and is reached by cable car. We leave Koblenz at lunchtime and sail to Rüdesheim where we arrive early this evening.
Day 5 - Rüdesheim - cruising the Rhine and Main
Spend this morning exploring Rüdesheim at your own pace. There are lots of beautiful sites to find here including Brömserburg Castle, Boosenburg Castle, Eagle Tower and Drosselgasse, a delightful cobbled street that treads through the old winemaking town, with tempting gift stores and taverns and timber framed houses adorned with vines. Alternatively, an optional excursion will take you to Siegfried’s Music Museum, which holds an impressive collection of beautiful mechanical music boxes from a delicate snuff box to a gigantic piano-orchestrion. We return to the ship for lunch and enjoy an afternoon sailing along the Rhine and the Main.
Day 6 - Miltenberg - Wertheim
Sitting along the old border between the Roman Empire and Germania is the desirable small town of Miltenberg with a medieval flair. The path up to the splendid old castle is worth the effort for stunning views over the forbidding ramparts and picturesque timber-framed houses. The gardens are charming and offer a tranquil place to rest and enjoy. You may also enjoy an optional beer tasting in one of Miltenberg’s famous breweries. Our cruise continues over lunch, arriving later this afternoon in Wertheim, known for its wine, castle and medieval town centre.
Day 7 - Würzburg
This morning we arrive in Würzburg to visit a masterpiece of Baroque architecture - Würzburg Residenz. This huge palace, one of Germany’s largest, is the former residence of the Würzburg prince-bishops. It took just 60 years to complete, including the stunning interior that boasts, amongst many other great achievements, an incredibly detailed chapel and Neumann’s beautiful staircase, overlooked by one of the largest frescos ever created, depicting the continents. The entire palace was influenced by the styles of 18th century Europe, from French château to Viennese Baroque and secular architecture of northern Italy. The gardens are no less impressive with perfectly clipped yews and an English influence. There is also time to explore the old town, if you choose, before returning to the ship.
Day 8 - Bamberg
After a relaxing morning, we arrive in UNESCO-listed Bamberg. Choose to spend the afternoon on an optional guided tour taking in many of the city’s facets, or explore the historic old quarter, its churches and Old Court at your own pace. The beautiful Rose Garden is an elegant break from the attractive medieval streets.
Day 9 Nuremberg - Munich - London
Disembark in Nuremberg and transfer to Munich Airport for a direct, scheduled British Airways flight to London Heathrow. On arrival you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
