This delightful cruise, aboard the A-ROSA STELLA, takes you on a seven-night voyage on the Saône and Rhône Rivers, legendary for the vineyards of Burgundy and the lavender-scented hills of Provence.
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to London Heathrow Airport and a British Airways flight to Lyon. On arrival, our coach will transfer you to embark A-ROSA STELLA (4T). Enjoy dinner this evening as we set sail for a panorama cruise through Lyon Old Town and on to Mâcon.
Day 2 - Mâcon
An early morning arrival in Mâcon, located on a beautiful landscape on the river Saône in the south of Burgundy. Disembark for an included walking tour of this vibrant town. The oldest building in Mâcon, located on the Place aux Herbes, is a house almost entirely covered by unique woodland sceneries. After your walking tour, perhaps enjoy some shopping or relax in one of the many cafés.
Day 3 - Chalon-sur-Saône - Tournus
We arrive early morning in Chalon-sur-Saône, where there is an included walking tour through the old town and the city, considered the birthplace of photography. From Chalon-sur-Saône there is an optional visit available to Dijon ‘City of Dukes’, taking you through vineyards and over the ‘Route des Grands Crus’ to the Renaissance Palace ‘Clos du Vougeot’, before arriving in Dijon, the historic city and capital of Burgundy. We sail south on the Saône to Tournus.
Day 4 - Lyon
We arrive into Lyon early today and there will be an included tour of this stunning city, located at the confluence of the Rhône and the Saône. Take a walk through the old town, the so-called Vieux Lyon, which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. View the houses built in Italian Renaissance style, the Roman theatre and the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière.
Day 5 - Châteauneuf-du-Pape - Avignon
We make a brief stop in Châteauneuf-du-Pape this morning before continuing our journey to Avignon, one of the greatest surviving walled cities in the world. There will be an included city walking tour. Through small alleys, along past the numerous small city palaces, chapels and churches, this excursion will lead you to the famous Palais des Papes, which can be explored during an extensive tour. Continue your walk to the viewing point of Rocher des Domes, from where you can enjoy an excellent panoramic view of the Rhône valley.
Day 6 - Avignon - Arles
After a further morning in Avignon, we sail into Arles for an included walking tour. Even if you haven’t yet paid the ancient Roman town a visit, you’re sure to recognise pictures of it. Vincent van Gogh painted Arles in 187 of his works and a few of his motifs have today been restored to their original state.
Day 7 - Viviers - La Voulte
During breakfast, we arrive in Viviers and have an optional morning visit to the Valley of the Ardèche. The Ardèche Gorges are often referred to as the Grand Canyon of Europe with spectacular limestone cliffs towering up to 1,000ft over the river far below. Drive to one of the numerous grottos of the area, such as the Grottes des Madeleines, which consists of more than 25 subterranean halls. Continue to one of the lavender producers in the Ardèche area. We embark for lunch and our final voyage to Lyon, with a brief stop in La Voulte. We enjoy our final dinner on board this evening.
Day 8 Lyon - London
After breakfast this morning, we disembark and transfer to Lyon Airport for our British Airways flight to London Heathrow. On arrival you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
