Day 1 - London Tilbury
Make your own way to London Tilbury to embark Magellan (3T) in preparation for an afternoon sailing.
Day 2 - Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Today we arrive in the charming Dutch capital of Amsterdam, renowned for its stunning tree-lined canals, pretty bridges, lines of numerous bicycles and merchants’ houses filling the glorious streets. There is plenty to keep you occupied with an array of art galleries and superb museums and the more famous attractions including the Anne Frank House, Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum.
Day 3 - 4 - At sea
Relax on board Magellan today, perhaps taking a dip in one of the pools or enjoying the live entertainment in the lounges.
Day 5 - Vigo, Spain
We enjoy a day docked at Vigo, a beautiful city located in north-west Spain and on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Explore the historic quarter, Cidale Vella which boasts extravagant houses, charming streets, the Collegiate Church of Santa María and the Neoclassical Cathedral of Vigo-Tui. Nearby, the stunning Municipal Park of Castrelos can be found with beautiful neo-classical gardens, ancient trees and a fascinating art gallery housing European works of art dating back to the Baroque period. Also, being situated on the Galician coast allows exquisite cuisine, with restaurants serving mouthwatering fresh fish and seafood dishes
Day 6 - Lisbon, Portugal
Lisbon resides at the mouth of the spectacular River Tagus and this captivating city is renowned for its unique maritime history, being the place where the Caravels set sail on their adventurous voyages. Following a shocking earthquake in 1755 leaving the city in destruction, the capital was rebuilt in its modern, charismatic appearance seen today. Explore the beautiful architecture of this city and travel through the charming cobbled streets of the ancient Moorish Alfama district, to stunning viewpoints capturing breathtaking views of the city.
Day 7 - At sea
Enjoy a day at leisure aboard Magellan.
Day 8 - Christmas Eve - At sea
Spend this Christmas Eve sailing towards the Cape Verde Islands.
Day 9 - Christmas Day - At sea
Happy Christmas! Spend a memorable Christmas Day at sea, enjoying Christmas lunch with festive cheer.
Day 10 - Boxing Day - Mindelo, Cape Verde Islands
Discover the mesmerising cultural capital of Cape Verde, Mindelo. This lovely city boasts a unique location at the foot of two spectacular, extinct volcanoes. The cultural island hosts charming cobbled streets, stunning colonial buildings, pretty cafes and a remarkable Old Town. The Old Town is situated directly on the glistening ocean and is home to the beautiful colonial Nossa Senhora da Luz church.
Day 11 - Praia Santiago
Both the capital and largest city of Cape Verde, Praia Santiago is a treasured city located 300 miles off the coast of West Africa. The centre of the city is a wondrous place to explore, not only does it overlook the stunning bay but it also has a number of fascinating monuments including the old city hall of 1920, Albuquerque Square and the beautiful Presidential Palace.
Day 12 - 13 - At sea
Enjoy the facilities on board Magellan as we sail towards Tenerife, spend some time relaxing in the luxurious spa or unwind in the Lounge Bar.
Day 14 - Santa Cruz, Tenerife
Tenerife, which is dominated by the magnificent Mount Teide, offers stunning views of mountainous scenery and numerous valleys of lush landscapes, pinewoods and bright banana plantations. Tenerife’s capital, Santa Cruz captures breathtaking views of the natural surroundings as well as being a great place to discover pretty churches, museums, delightful restaurants and shops. Nature lovers will also be in awe when visiting Santa Cruz’s exotic gardens of Garcia Sanabria Park, home to beautiful flora, fountains and glorious green landscapes.
Day 15 - New Year’s Eve - Las Palmas, Gran Canaria
This morning we arrive in the captivating capital of Gran Canaria, Las Palmas. Admire the adored sub-tropical climate, mountainous views, charming valleys, stunning sandy beaches, tranquil parks and pretty plazas. You might want to explore the historic centre of Vegueta which hosts spectacular architecture and historic buildings dating as far back as 500 years, as well as an array of museums including the Christopher Columbus Museum. The island’s Playa de las Canteras beach stretches over two miles and is perfectly surrounded by a natural barrier reef - a great place to put your snorkelling skills to the test! This evening we bring in the New Year on board
Day 16 - New Year’s Day - Arrecife, Lanzarot
After the previous evening’s festivities, enjoy a morning exploring volcanic Arrecife, which has been recognised as a fishing harbour since the 15th century, and has held the title as the capital of Lanzarote since 1852. Enjoying a sub-tropical climate, it is a delightful place to explore with views of charismatic fishing boats docked in the colourful harbour and an abundance of shops.
Day 17 - Funchal, Madeira
Today we arrive in beautiful Madeira, a port ideally located at the entrance of the stunning town where you will see charming whitewashed buildings and stunning mountainous scenery. Take the opportunity to travel by a scenic, modern cable car up to the breathtaking city of Monte, where you can not only capture fantastic views from an adventurous height but you will also see the start of the region’s well-known wicker toboggan ride.
Day 18 - At sea
Day 19 - Leixões, Portugal
Before sailing home we have the opportunity to explore one of Portugal’s major seaports, Leixões. A gateway to Portugal’s second city Porto, it has plenty of exciting things to do; optional excursions can take you on an exciting boat journey to the attractive River Douro, or to Porto, where you can visit the numerous fascinating museums such as the Museum of the Tram where you will learn of this traditional form of transport.
Day 20 - 21 - At sea
Relax on board Magellan as we sail home.
Day 22 London Tilbury
Upon arrival at London Tilbury, you are free to make your own way home.
