There will be free time this evening before the ship sails tonight to Vienna.
Day 3 - Vienna
After breakfast, a panoramic tour will introduce you to the highlights of the beautiful Austrian capital, Vienna. Along the way you’ll see the magnificent St Stephen’s Cathedral, the State Opera House and the majestic Hofburg Palace, once home to the Habsburg emperors. This afternoon you are free to enjoy Vienna at your own pace, perhaps taking a stroll along the shop-lined Kärtnerstrasse or stopping at a traditional Viennese coffeehouse to sample the famously delicious pastries. Alternatively, you could join an optional excursion to Schönbrunn Palace and gardens, a glorious example of Baroque architecture. Tonight, you may choose to round off your visit to Vienna by attending an optional Mozart and Strauss concert.
Day 4 - Dürnstein - Melk
Early this morning, our ship reaches the lovely Wachau Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Dürnstein, one of the prettiest towns along the Danube. Come along on the included walking tour and discover its centuries-old cobblestoned streets, the delightful powder-blue bell-tower of the Baroque Stiftskirche (abbey church), and the ruins of the hilltop castle where Richard the Lionheart was once held for ransom. This afternoon, either enjoy a guided bike tour from Dürnstein to Melk (weather permitting) or simply relax on board and enjoy the scenery of the Wachau Valley. Your ship arrives late this afternoon in Melk, renowned for its spectacular Benedictine abbey, and you will learn about its history and its treasures on a guided tour. Afterwards, there’s free time to explore the charming town of Melk before returning to the ship.
Day 5 - Linz - Passau
We arrive in Linz, Austria’s third-largest city this morning, where you may choose your next destination. Remain on board for a scenic cruise through Upper Austria to the German city of Passau, on the confluence of the rivers Danube, Inn and Ilz, and known as the Dreiflüssestadt (Three Rivers City). Today’s walking tour will take you around Passau’s Old Town, including a visit to Baroque St Stephan’s Cathedral, home to the largest church organ in the world. As an alternative, you may join an optional excursion from Linz to Salzburg, with a walking tour of the historic centre, the setting for the ‘Sound of Music’ and Mozart’s birthplace. The ship cruises overnight.
Day 6 - Regensburg

You will have a guided walking tour of the city’s architectural treasures, such as the Porta Praetoria, a Roman gateway built in AD 179 and the Gothic St Peter’s Cathedral, before returning to the ship for dinner.
Day 7 - Nuremberg
Enjoy a scenic morning cruise as your ship crosses the Continental Divide via the Main-Danube Canal and cruises through the beautiful Altmühl Valley. This afternoon, you have a choice of two tours in Nuremberg. ‘Medieval Nuremberg’ will give you a fascinating overview of this former unofficial capital of the Holy Roman Empire, and centre of the German Renaissance. You will see the 900-year-old ramparts, towers and city walls of the Imperial Castle that surround the historic city centre, as well as the house where artist Albrecht Dürer once lived. The alternative sightseeing option focusses on Nuremberg during the time of the Third Reich, visiting Zeppelin Field, where Nazi rallies were held, and the Justice Palace courtroom where the War Crimes Tribunal sat in 1946 (when available). The ship moors in Nuremberg overnight.
