Day 1 London - Rome, Italy
Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to London Heathrow or Gatwick Airport for a British Airways or another leading airline flight to Rome. On arrival, you are met by Voyages to Antiquity representatives and transferred to your hotel.
Day 2 Rome
Begin your sightseeing tour with the largest and most famous Roman amphitheatre, the Colosseum, and then the sumptuous Basilica of St Peter in the Vatican, or visit Ostia Antica, the ancient port of Rome. The afternoon is free to explore or take an optional visit to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel.
Day 3 - Rome
Enjoy a morning in Rome before transferring to Civitavecchia to board Aegean Odyssey (4T), setting sail early this evening.
Day 4 - Sorrento
Today’s sightseeing tour takes in either Pompeii or Herculaneum, the two towns engulfed by lava erupting from Mt Vesuvius in August 79AD. The solidified lava preserved the buildings remarkably well.
Day 5 - Sorrento
This morning is free to explore the civilised old town of Sorrento, before cruising past Capri and Amalfi Coast this afternoon.
Day 6 - Palermo, Sicily
Step ashore in beautiful Sicily to explore bustling Palermo and visit the noble Monreale Cathedral to see the dazzling mosaics.
Day 7 - Taormina
A choice of sightseeing tours are available in the mountainside town of Taormina, including a visit to the Greco-Roman theatre with its breathtaking views of Mt Etna.
Day 8 - Corfu, Greece
Visit Corfu Town to see Byzantine icons housed in the museum in the church of Panagía Antivouniótissa, and the elegant Venetian Esplanade. Your afternoon is free.
Day 9 - Pylos
Inhabited since the Neolithic age, Pylos is a treasure trove of historical sites. Tour the Venetian castles or visit the city of Ancient Messini, one of the best-preserved archaeological sites in Greece. Ship to shore tender service.
Day 10 - Gythion
Choose to see the remains of glorious Sparta & Mystras, or sail into Diros Cave and explore the narrow passageways of this prehistoric dwelling place on the Gulf of Laconia. Ship to shore tender service.
Day 11 - Nauplia
Tales of Agamemnon and the time of Homer’s heroes take centre stage today on a visit to Mycenae, one of the greatest cities of the highly-developed Mycenaean civilisation. Or choose an afternoon drive through the evocative scenery of the Peloponnesian Peninsula to Epidaurus, a city sacred to the god of medicine, Asclepius. Today, Epidaurus is a vast UNESCO World Heritage Site with temples and hospital buildings that provide insight into the healing cults of the time.
Day 12 - Delos - Mykonos
This morning, visit the sacred island of Delos, one of the most interesting archaeological sites in Greece and the paramount religious sanctuary of the ancient Greek world. Nearby Mykonos is the perfect contrast for a leisurely afternoon ashore. Ship to shore tender service.
Day 13 - Santorini (Akrotiri)
The Minoan settlement of Akrotiri is the tour's highlight; abandoned after severe earthquakes, then covered in pumice by a volcanic eruption in about 1625BC. After a visit, continue to tiny Pyrgos, once the capital and Fira, the scenic capital. Ship to shore tender service.
Day 14 Piraeus - Athens
Disembark this morning and transfer to the hotel for a three-night stay.
Day 15 Athens
Visit the sublime expression of Classical Greece, the Acropolis with its sweeping views of Athens. The site is dominated by the majestic Parthenon: a building that embodies the stunning achievements of the Athenian ‘Golden Age’. Below the temple complex is the theatre of Dionysos, which you can see before exploring the Acropolis Museum.
Day 16 Athens
This morning's sightseeing reveals the splendour of Byzantine art in a tour that combines visits to both the Byzantine Museum, home to the world's largest collection of icons, and also the Monastery of Kaisariani with its fine frescoes and elegant gardens.
Day 17 Athens - London
Transfer to Athens Airport for a British Airways or another leading airline flight to London Heathrow or Gatwick Airport. Upon arrival you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.
