Holidays in Japan

Japan’s unique blend of ultra-modern, neon-lit urban energy and traditional ancient culture captivates Western travellers. This seemingly timeless land of exquisitely dressed geishas, peaceful Buddhist temples and intricate tea ceremonies is also the birthplace of Nintendo and PlayStation and the world’s busiest high-speed train, the Shinkansen (Bullet Train).

March and April are the perfect months to visit Japan, as the start of spring is signalled by the blooming of the cherry blossom, or sakura, but there is so much to see throughout the year, from the buzzing capital Tokyo to snow-capped Mount Fuji, the highest peak in the country at 3,776 metres high, and a true icon of Japan, centuries-old castles, recalling the days of the Samurai, Kyoto with its picturesque temples, shrines and gardens and the poignant memorial to peace in the city of Hiroshima.
