Vietnam is a destination of manifold holiday pleasures – travellers are bewitched by its beauty, delighted by its hospitality and heavenly cuisine, exhilarated by bustling modern metropolises like Ho Chi Minh City, where the vibrancy and energy of the country is thrillingly apparent, and charmed by its traditions, encompassing colourful places of worship and lush paddy fields timelessly worked by water buffalo. Cambodia too presents scenes of rural life little changed in centuries, along with floating villages and markets and, in the heart of the jungle, often overrun with vines and creepers, a majestic complex of temples including the remarkable Angkor Wat.
This morning we visit the magnificent ruins of Angkor Wat, an architectural masterpiece and the largest religious building in the world. After a stop for lunch we have a boat trip on Tonle Sap lake. We return to the hotel in the afternoon with time to relax before dinner this evening.
